Good day Magicians,

Redshift3D has had Day 1 support of Houdini 18.5 here: Houdini/Solaris plugins [www.redshift3d.com]

There's a small caveat, there is currently an issue with py3 builds of Houdini and our Solaris/USD plugin - we're working on a fix for that. So, if you are using a recent py3 build of Houdini 18.5, Solaris rendering is unavailable as of 10.29.20, but ROP rendering works fine in py3.

I'l update this post once py3 Solaris support comes online.

For those Users that are on the regular (py2) build of Houdini - there are currently no rendering issues as of 10.29.20

Thanks.

PS - make sure you are configuring Redshift in your houdini18.5 folder, as this is a minor version bump guys, so there's a new $HOME folder.

Is there any progress on py3 support? Our studio is already moved to py3 build and there is no way back now

Are you referring to Solaris py3 rendering with Redshift?

Yes, I'm sorry, I forgot to mention that nuance

Hi, I mentioned to the Houdini plugin developer about this, and they are trying to come up with a way to resolve this without requiring a “special” build process for py3. At any rate, this item has been given a higher development priority.

I will be sure to post here when py3 Solaris support is added.

I just tested an internal build with py3 support on Windows and Linux.

So hopefully this will be in the next release.

Py3 support (ROP & Solaris) was added several releases ago for Redshift3d.

Just to be precise, I'm talking about py3 support in solaris part.

Is there any way to get demo of RS with this feature?
I'm seeing demo available version is only for 3.0.36, but Houdini 18.5.499 is supported only starting from 3.0.39. Will plugin for 3.0.39 work with 3.0.36?

I just installed Houdini 18.5.499 and downloaded Redshift 3.0.39. Redshift is not running and the plugin folder is not showing a 18.5.499 version as of today. Does anyone knows when redshift will start supporting H18.5.499?

...to answer your question. YES, RS has support for the latest Production version of Houdini, both Python2 and Python3 versions, usually within 2 days of the Houdini production release.
