Here are some suggestions for the built-in Houdini File Chooser/Dialog/Browser:
  • Option to Rename and/or Delete Files/Folders.
  • Set Default Window Size
I keep finding that it is too small, especially if I have a bunch of JUMP paths set.
  • Allow Renaming of JUMP Paths
Similar to GIMP's file browser -> Places functionality [docs.gimp.org].
  • Allow Re-arranging of JUMP Paths
Currently, it is always sorted alphabetically, even if I re-arrange it manually in the jump file.
  • TAB Menu
The TAB Menu items could then display the named JUMP paths from the above suggestion.
  • JUMP Path Editor
Something that wuold allow us to setup our own categories/sub-folders for folder paths.
    (something similar to foldergit [www.rpmanager.com])
This will help us organize folder paths that may depend on different project structures.
  • History Dropdown
Save a list of recently visited paths.
  • Thumbnail/Preview Section
For images files, having a quick way to see a thumbnail of the currently selected file would be helpful. (sort of like Window's Preview Pane)
This is, in a way, a combination of the “Preview Button”, and the “Show Images” RMB option.
  • Explore Path
A RMB option to open a folder or path to an Explorer or Finder.
  • Shortcut key to go back up a folder (backspace). <- Implemented!

Please RFE them all, I too have requested some points of your list. The sooner some of them make it into a release the saner
Window size especially. I think all pop-up windows should have a respectable size since that's the main focus at that time. Resizing small pop-up window wastes time and focus.

Have fun

Kinda surprised that this is still not a thing. Show in Explorer is the biggest time saver in any tool.
