I try to composite a sequence of falling water. The only problem is the fluids alpha.
The alpha is white behinde the fluid and not gradient like. So now when I composit this sequence nothing is visible behind the fluid.
I probably need to change the shader but I have now experience with shader writting.
Anybody any experience with this.
thx guys

are you using a glass shader?
That's typically how glass shaders work. you want to keep your other objects in scene and render them as phantom / matte objects to get your reflections/refractions in your render.
Trying to composite a refractive object onto a bg image will cause your bg to not refract properly.

Hey Allegro,
As you can see I'm using the default basic_liquid shader.
Does it also apply to this shader.
For this exercise it's not a problem if the reflection of the bg image isn't perfect. It's just for testing purposes.
I didn't use the vex_matte shader for the static RBD object, I just made it not renderable. That's the same, no?

Here's a quick adjustment to your file, which hopefully helps you understand the expected workflow for water/glass

Hello Allegro,
Sorry for the late reply. Thx allot for the detailed feedback.
I wasn't aware of the phantom option for the geometry node. I'm gonne use that definitely in the future.
For exercise purpose I don't think this is gonne work for me.
Because as you already pointed out the bg will never be properly refracted.
thx again
