Technical Discussion » Portal light behind window glass = white glass?

I have a portal behind a window with refractions. Portal is set to use an object (grid) The grid has a constant with a picture. The glass part of the window is white for some reason even though it has 100% refractions. It becomes transparent only if I lower opacity to 0.

Thanks for your time.

I used the copy sop to make copies of an object, and used a circle for template, but now they are not aligned(translation , rotation). I must move the original object to have the copied objects where I want them. I also have to make the copied objects to face eachother.

How can I do that procedurally :?:

I don't know how badly the GI light was behaving (bad GI light, bad, bad!!), but if you're doing Global Illumination and/or caustics, it only makes sense it would be slower without it…

Why would that be? I'm only using 2 portals (interior scene). By the way I fixed my problem. This thread here helped a lot. http://www.sidefx.com/index.php?option=com_forum&Itemid=172&page=viewtopic&t=21548 [sidefx.com]

I do not understand the other method (ipr).

Is it like this?
You have to hide all other objects, create light, create sphere, apply uvs, and rendering in the same scene your working on?

Houdini 11 was the first Houdini I used.

Will Shader View be working in Houdini 12?

My render is taking much longer when I deleted the gilight because that started malfunctioning. Why would this happen? Sometimes Houdini has very erratic behavior.

First let me start by saying I love rendering with Houdini.

I am sort of new and I always use the default materials , but I came across a problem :

How do you apply a texture with alpha? (like a layer)

How do you apply a texture which has alpha/transparency , but that makes the background object appear. ex: to make a grid (texture based) with holes that show the object in the background . Or like a computer grill/ vents.

Any help is appreciated.

Technical Discussion » I need some basic help with fracturing a high resolution obj

That's what I already did.
Same results.

Dynamic fracturing works without issues, but it's slow and uses too much memory.

The hip file is 50mb+ I don't know where to upload that.
the model is from here, anyone can download(Vripped reconstruction):
http://graphics.stanford.edu/data/3Dscanrep/ [graphics.stanford.edu]
Then you have to convert it with Meshlab(free):
http://meshlab.sourceforge.net/ [meshlab.sourceforge.net]

Thanks for help.
