Last WIP of this weekend! I have to work a little more with the ground collision geo, also add some collider to the legs.

After a couple of feedback from my last “firebending” video, here's a little update after LOTs of tweeking, try and error and finally got something that I like.

I'll be moving to another element and refine this one as well.

It's been a while since the last post I did here.

I have been working in a “How can I do that?” series, started with a vellum bag based in one of GoodBye Kansas shot and now I'm doing one based in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”.

I have around 3 weeks since I started this it have been fun, here are the 3 current WIP Videos that I had done, right now I'm about to start the rendering process.









Any feedback would be awesome and well recived!

It seems somebody removed this stuff in the meantime… However originally I found these in Houdini's help directory, so these are still available locally, just hidden in the help menu/search. While these are in the released version, even in the daily builds, I thought it is not confidential.
Staff: If it's confidential for the customers too, please remove this post or tell me to do so.

Did you were able to figure it out? I having kind of the same problem.

I'm importing the abc file, creating the hair, but when I groom it, the hair gets floating in the first frame of the timeline .-.

Until a few days ago I got into hair in H, and I'm struggling with this

Any idea would be helpfull!

Keeping up with the nice stuff, here's a small render of the previews water ball, rendered with Mantra, will switch to RS in a few days, so I can be able to render all the sequence in a reasonable amount of time.

A few months ago I was watching “Avatar, the last air bender” for like 5ft time and wanted to create some bending control, I'm still working on the water bending, so here's a WIP from this weekedn.

Right now there's only to WIP, but will keep on with this until I master the 4 elements!

This is the reply I got from Adrian of RS Support to override the material from Houdini in Maya.

“To override proxy materials in Maya you need to name the shading group of you material the same name as the material in Houdini for instance by replacing the “/” with “_” so /mat/rsMaterial becomes _mat_rsMaterial

Hi guys

I'm doing a crowd sim in Houdini, appling a simple RSMaterial and exporting it as RSProxy so it can be rendered in Maya (the renderfarm is all based maya-redshift) and I want to have more control in the shading, most of it when it gets to lighting.

I have seen that RS allow us to override the material and so far I have manage to do this from proxies comming out from Maya, but how can I do the same with the RSProxies that I export from Houdini if in H doesn't have any shading groups?

After some research I end up finding that the best way to go is with RSProxy:

First you create the FX needed, shade it with RS, before exporting it you scale all by 100, so it match Maya scale, and then you adjust the shader, after this, you just need to export it with the RSProxy and all will be fine!!
