Hi, I'm doing a digital tutors tutorial over L Systems. I'm working with Houdini 11. At one point, we're working on making the ground and whenever I have my end node as “showing”, but I select a previous node to make changes, Houdini crashes with “Fatal Error: Segmentation Fault” as soon as I make a numbers change. I've included my .hip file. I'm inside the ground object and having the polybevel1 showing. I click on cap1 and go to change the divisions and get this error. I can repeat this every time. Now, if the polybevel isn't showing and the caps is, I have no problems. Could this be due to my graphics card? I'm running dual GTX 560 Ti's. I've inlcuded the .hip file and was wondering if anyone else is getting this problem with my file or if it's just my machine.

Yeah, I've checked out his H12 vids, but they seem to be based off the old ones with the new stuff incorporated. Is there any place I could maybe grab H11 or even H10? Learning those first then jumping into H12 might work best. Thanks.

Hi, so I'm fairly new to all this and trying to find tutorials on fluids, dynamics, etc. and all the ones I seem to find are geared towards Houdini 11 and under (except a few like the waterfall one that still doesn't really explain a whole lot to someone as new as me) which seems to be significantly different that Houdini 12.5. Does anyone know where I might find videos or PDFs that fit this build? Thanks!

Yeah, I forgot to change the cookie option before uploading. The output back was exactly the problem! Thank you!

Hi, I'm following the masterclass tutorials and I'm doing the candle holder at the end of M02. When I try to do a boolean effect the way the narrator does it, mine has a different result. I have a sphere that was cutout and the boolean is treating it like it's solid all the way through instead of like a cup how I have it. The cylinders are supposed to be cut away and leave holes in the cup like sphere. Any ideas? Here's the hip file. Thanks!

Actually, looking at this again and trying again, this isn't an option in the “fracture_SOP_solver” node…at least not when highlighted. Is there anything else I'm missing? I'm uploading the HIP file again because I redid the tutorial just to make sure I'm not missing anything. I even went further to the “voronoifracture” node and and in the “Groups” param checked the “Create Output Groups” box. Do I need to re render the bgeo file?
EDIT: Ignore…figured it. I just needed to move the slider along…it was giving me a warning saying that there were no groups, but it's because it hadn't been shattered yet. ops:

Ok when I go to that path, it's greyed out. Any ideas? I even tried loading it in Houdini 11, but that option is still greyed out…there must be something I'm missing. Please any help would be greatly appreciated! I really want to finish this tutorial :?

Ok thanks! Is this something that changed in Houdini 12 from 11? Or did they conveniently forget to put that in the tutorial?

So, I'm following the smashing columns tutorial and I'm at the part where I'm assigning materials. In the circle_object1 network, there's a node called “file” and it says to attach a material node to it. So I do. Then it says in that node paramters, to type “inside” in the group field. Well that seems to not work for my scene. When I click the down arrow next to the field, nothing comes up but in the video he has a long list of items. Is there something I'm missing? I've attached my HIP file. I'm using Houdini 12 BTW. Thanks!

Thanks. That seems to work, somewhat, but it's still not getting the same effect as the tutorial video. I see what you did, though and it makes sense, but it still doesn't seem to fracture the column when the ball hits, only when the columns hit each other. But, I figured out how to make it work. I had to put the sphere name in the Impact group box and that worked perfectly. I guess that's the difference between Houdini 11 and 12? lol But why is it in the tutorial he doesn't change any of the parameters and it works just fine? If I add the sphere into the impact group, it's also smashing the columns before the sphere actually hits them.
EDIT: Figured out what the major issue was. I didn't even have to change the Impact Group. In the rigidbodysolver1 node, the solver engine was set to Bullet…I changed it to RBD and it worked exactly as planned. So, Bullet was the problem.

Hey guys,
I was following the quick start tutorial and I've followed the column one step by step and I'm stuck at a certain point. When I add the “Make Breakable” modifier to the circle of columns and simulate it, all the columns start smashing and at the base instead of the impact point of the ball. It seems to me that they may be “falling” on to the ground plane, but I'm not exactly sure. I'm using Houdini 12 btw and I've attached a screenshot. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm running Houdini 11 free version and I'm working on modeling a basic column as per the training vid. I have two objects under the “obj” scene. When I dive into one or the other, the one I'm NOT in turns yellow…how do I change that? It's driving me crazy! Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I'm running windows 7 with Houdini 11 and wondering how I can add my fonts without actually picking each one individually. Houdini sees the folder, but doesn't add any of the TTF files. Any suggestions?
