I am having a bit difficulty of figuring out a way of how material variation node is working.
I can't so far find a solution for it. Is there an simple example of hip file how it is used ? Thanks.
For example I have need to change a diffuse texture to one of the primitives assigned but rest primitives maintain the same.

The Retime Instances LOP is the easiest way to provide a random starting frame for animations, but you'll want to use a Reference LOP pointed directly at your Alembic file rather than SOP Importing Alembic geometry loaded into SOPs. The added level of indirection makes retiming more challenging (or impossible), as well as being less efficient.
Texture variation can be added using a primvar on the point instancer, along with a shader that exposes the texture parameter through a primvar reader. The easiest way to set a per-instance primvar is in the point instancer LOP, add a SOP point attribute with the name you want to give the primvar, then on the Point Instancer LOP, specify this Point Attribute to Import.

I have geo alembic animation cache.
Sop import into Lops. Did instancer scatter them in lops. what's the best way of having random start frames on them so animation doesn't look the same.
And what's the best way to have texture variation on them ? that override existing texture parameters in shader ?

It's not a great solution, but you can switch the parameter dialog for the stage manager from the custom tree UI to a regular parm dialog by pressing the button that looks like a couple vertical of sliders at the top of the dialog, right newxt to the node name. In that mode you can Add a new change, set the change type to “edit primitive”, set the primitive path, and edit the transform parameters directly.
Yes, I have fiddle with that. it is not very intuitive. Would be great to improve stagemanger on set-dressing user experience side of thing. Maya style would be great, just for manual set-dressing.

I found using edit function to layout USD assets are pretty hard to control.
I feel stage manager is easier to manage. But is there a way of entering X.Y.Z transform value some where? like Maya style. If stage manager simply have some sort of transform/rotation channel boxes. Would be great. please let me know if there is. Thanks.

I am testing Karma on a heavy setup. with Non-Commerical version. I wasn't able to render a sequence of exr. 18.0.324
I ended up render a single frame from the viewport and save it as exr. However, I am getting a really noisy image, with additional issue like Black patch or pixel. At sample rate 512. over 3 hours render on a single frame. below is the example.
Another issue id with Depth pass or any other AOV really saved out from the viewport render, it looks like been squeezed and repeated. which doesn't match the beauty pass.

Can I render Karma to .exr with Water mark ? I am trying to test a sequence. got all excited of building this complex scene, until I found I can't render it out, and trying to comp it……..

I am testing Solaris on a very heavy scene. I am thinking of is there a way that I can display the geo in the viewpoint using a low res proxy for the purpose of set dressing. Then switching to a high res, when render in Karma ?

Is there a way to set resolution in the Karma render view ? and display the film gate in the viewport ? I pressed D, and set rest there it didn't seem to do anything…

How could I possibly enter the selection mode with point “1 2 3” is selected when I press a button on HDA ?

Is it possible to build a material in MAT context via material builder, to do a layered camera projection. Let's say you have two cameras project different images to the same GEO. I want to build a layered material to achieve that just like the old day in Maya.
