Thanks mestela, I'll give that a go ... I'm bringing it into KineFX so might also see if I can apply a similar fix there.
Houdini Indie and Apprentice » Mocapbiped SOPs skipping when looped

Pretty sure I'm missing something really basic here, but when I drop a mocapbiped sop into a 24 fps project and play an animation I'm seeing it jump from the end to the next start of the loop. How do I get it to run smoothly?
Thank for reading and would appreciate any advice!

Technical Discussion » Houdini Console "PDG Type Registry" Failed with 18.0.391

I also have the same problem, though it also happens as soon as I open Houdini (18.0.391).
I just installed the Redshift demo, but can't see any of the expected Redshift stuff in Houdini. It seems like it only started happening after I installed Redshift. I also got set up with Zync today (which I found doesn't support H18) but as far as I can tell it was ok between the Z and R installs.

Technical Discussion » Pasting Attribute Reference Into Wrangle - clears code?

Thanks - I guess that's why the references are contained in ``.
So would it be considered bad practice to have code like this? Is there a chance it can cause problems or is it just not clean code?
float distanceFromInner = length(@P) - `chs(“../planet_rad”)` - `chs(“../ring_dist”)`;
distanceFromInner = clamp(distanceFromInner,0,`chs(“../ring_wi”)`);

I want to check if this is the expected / usual behavior before submitting a bug report.
When I copy a parameter and paste a relative ref into a wrangle, it clears all of the other code and just leaves the copied reference. I'm pretty sure this doesn't always happen but seems to be consistently occurring at the moment, even when creating a new file with a simple-as-possible example. Also sometimes it's not letting me undo after this, although that's not consistent.
I know I can work around this by creating a chf and pasting the relative ref into there, but prefer to skip this step. And if added manually the relative references do work in the code so there doesn't seem to be a reason for overwriting everything else unless I'm missing something.

Houdini Indie and Apprentice » Noob question: Move points to circle

Though I've realised I've been really dumb, since I started with a sphere I should have just grouped the parts I wanted to scale to the oval shape! duh … but Circle from Edges is gonna be really useful to know about anyway.

Hi, I have what is hopefully a very basic question. How do I move the points in the red center group so that they form a perfect circle, but shifting as little as possible from their original positions? The type of thing that would be done in Blender etc. with a spherize / circularize action. The points are already flattened in the y direction.
My vex isn't great yet. I did consider getting a normalized vector from the center for each point, which would be ok except the distribution wouldn't be even around the circle. I also considered using sin / cos to reconstruct the x / y positions for each point, but this would twist them away from their current locations, needing to be rotated back by an arbitrary (i.e. non-procedural) amount.

Has anyone tried .318? Just wondering if it's worth installing that build to try to resolve these issues, or am I better off just waiting for the next production build?
