thank you all for the solutions! Robsdesign's method works fine for me, I just leave it at the boolean node to keep everything simple.
I've tried the clip node as Vusta suggested but I can't get the distance range from -5 to 5 to 0 to 1, “fit” expression won't do and I can't seem to edit the parameters of that node. I didn't use Houdini for a long time so I'm a dumb now. but thanks anyway, this is the greatest community I've experienced so far.

hey there, I'm want to create a golden rectangle grid that I can adjust the weight and height for analysis purposes, I've played around with a couple of nodes there and I can make that grid.
however, if I want to go further, let's say, to cut a specific edge with the golden ratio, I running into a problem with the topology, that I can't select the edge that I already divide…
sorry for that ugly handwriting…I've tried the curvesect nodes and it doesn't work in this case. so I'm hoping someone out there could help me out with this, thanks.

hey donghongzi, if you are using S and T coordinates to map your ramp, could you just use a UV Transform VOP?

I use two line-ramp generate a radius ramp. but I wonder what I can do about rotate the image. in other hand, I use a method of cos(1-x) flip image but not perfect.

I do not fully understand,three point can have four vertex?
Picture a quad with one of the edges with 0 length, where two of points have the same position.
thanks edward, yes..I get…but this way there are two points is not it? sphere only a single point,my point is sphere above and below the point of whether the four sides face?but they appear to be triangles,and ophiuchus42 said they have four vertices, triangles have four vertices it? Or that they are the four sides face?

Hey donghonzi is you sphere polygons? By default, spheres in Houdini are primitives
Of course I know,but use group “$NVTX == 3”,poly sphere of the triangles is not selected,I do not know why……

Hi, there. Access to edge information is pretty limited except maybe through the HDK so I don't know of a way of selecting based on number of edges. However, if you are using polygons, you can achieve a similar result by selecting based on number of vertices. For example, in a Group SOP, Change it to “Group by Expression”, and use an expression like “$NVTX == 3” to select primitives with 3 vertices.
Why not work on the sphere?
