This is my configuration:

Houdini : 11.1.22
Windows : 7 Home Premium
GPU : AMD Radeon HD 6630M (stock catalyst drivers)
Comp : Sony Viao with Hybrid Graphics

As you can see, the Main Menu is rendering below the Parameters pane and the Parameter Pane itself is black.

I am following the following tutorial, Page 38:

It requires 2 materials to be dragged from the material palette:

3) In the pane in the bottom left, click on the Material Palette tab. Drag a Mantra Surface and Stone material from the gallery to the palette work area.

But my material palette looks quite different, see screen-shot attached:

I am using Houdini Master 11.0.733 Apprentice on Ubuntu 10.10

As you can see it only has one Renderman material. There are no mantra materials.

What am I missing?

Houdini 11 worked after installing catalyst version 11.5.

But now the HD videos are tearing on ATI cards…but thats an ooold story for another day. EDIT: Catalyst 11.5 now has a new tear free display option [dolphinaura.com]…FINALLY!

No this is not the same issue.

I have installed proprietary drivers, but after the Houdini splash screen nothing happens.

I am not even getting Houdini to run. Quietly nothing happens after the splash screen.

The image viewer is working fine though. Please help. I am using HD4650 Graphic Card.

When I try to run Houdini Apprentice 11 on Ubuntu 10.10 using the default drivers of the ATI card, I get the following terminal error AFTER THE SPLASH SCREEN:

The licenser server is running fine and I can see the splash screen.

Then, I switched to the proprietary ATI drivers and tried to run houdini.

The splash screen appears and then it disappears after 5 seconds and nothing happens. No errors no warnings.

Anybody else had success running H11 on Ubuntu 10.10 on ATI card?
