This probably means that this pseudo-MIDI port isn't recognized by Windows. Houdini gets the list of MIDI sources from the Windows media library. Perhaps the application isn't advertising the port there.
Some sound drivers allow you to configure a joystick port as a MIDI port, but as I imagine that won't work very well with the joystick, I'm not sure what to suggest.

Dear all
I want to try to use Midi keyboard & midi controller to real time control chops, in help file, it show in CHOP > Midi In CHOP > Midi Source > “hardware port/internal/MIDI file.”
But, the things is, “hardware port/internal” was missing, in the option only have “MIDI file” to choose.
do anyone know how to control chops by midi devices in real time?

Hi, I would like to ask a question about doing cloth model.
I want to make a surface like cloth wrinkle,how can i do that, I try pointJitter and mountain but they are in one way wrinkle, how can i make it more complete in SOP only.
because this don't need animation, is just modeling.

not that rename, i mean the function like “click on the name to rename” without moving hand to mouse.

in network view, is there any rename node hotkey?

Hi, I would like to know is there anyone can help me out of this.

Hi, I using a new laptop DELL M6500 with Nvidia quadro FX2800M , i install a H11.0.469, so far everything is fine but only a small thing want to ask.
My Viewport is little bit weird, when i use ‘Space + 1’ or ‘Space + 2-5’ or ‘Space + H or G’, i cannot see something that i surpose to see but a empty viewport, the viewport view point not to the object but to other point.
and the more weird thing is, sometimes with ‘space +2-5’ i even cannot find out where exactly my geo location.
so far only in 1 case work:
turn on the ‘Display contrution plane/ortho grid’
then in this case i am working fine with “Space +1 & Space + H”
but still doesn't work in other like “Spc + 2-5”
may I know how to settle this viewport doesn't show in correct view probelm?

yeah thanks, i download the latest nvidia, not enough, then i think, erm, maybe i will also download the latest Houdini version, so i do it and now it work fines

quadro FX2800M
after i install the houdini 11, i cannot run the Hmaster or etc other
it will pop out a very fast msgbox like “segment XXX” and then disappear in less than half second.
i found out this “segment XXX” by non stop trying to open the Hmaster. it disappear too fast and i almost even cannot see.
may I know what is the solution please?

Hi , i would like to make a hair
and i want to use SoftXform SOP to adjust the Hair, I want to choose: “ignore point connective” and i don't want to move the fix point, how can i do that without effect to fix point?
this will be very useful to adjust the hair.

as the hip files show the fur is base on a sphere who are always switching scale refer to rand($F).
and as the hair.PNG show that i want the hair shape is always in that shape whatever what size the sphere is.
i make some change in “OBJ_hair/clumps/__dispaly_sop__” to control the hair shape,i not sure is this the correct way to control the hair but i figure out this work.
and the sphere size was random in every $F, and i want whatever what size is it, the hair is in this shape as hair.png, and in the correct propotion but not changing propotion. (because the human model i use have alot of swimming point and unstable point in different frame)
what happen in this HIP files is, the hair continue fall down none stop because of the force, the more $F it is, the more longer the length of the hair, i would like to know is there anyway to make the hair fall down but not making the hair become long.
i have try to use Lock, yes, it work, but only for certain frame, some frame the hair is disappear, i don't know why.
i hope you can help me to figure out a way so i can control the human hair on a unstable model correctly.

thanks for reply but Spring Constant parameter doesn't really help bcs it still making the hair become longer if i set the force become bigger, i would like to just move the particle but without any elastic.
