Hi,
Is render region working properly on Mac?
I am using latest macOS, latest Houdini 19.0.455 and latest Mac (M1 MAX).
Please take a look at the attached screenshot. Render region is not really following marked area borders. It also behaves weirdly while rescaling, for example not rendering or rendering in unexpected way (like in the example).

Hello,
I have following problem:
When Houdini is hid (using “Hide Houdini” option from application menu) and I choose “log out” from Apple menu, Houdini is freezing and CPU usage jumps to high %. I have to “force quit” Houdini application.
That was in beta stage and is now with the latest 9.5.171.
Can anyone from the Mac camp confirm?

It should download without any problems and without .html extension.
What browser are you using?

Hi Nathan,
I had the same problem with 9.5 beta. I did a test right now with 9.5.170 and it is behaving the same like yours. At least we have a crosshair cursor now, as it wasn't present in beta builds I tested. I hope it will be resolved soon as it is a very nice feature.

That would be great idea (if someone want to participate). My experience is based on LightWave and I am also struggling with Mantra, but I can also say that I am discovering something new almost on daily basis. Right now I am experimenting with light templates (radiosity effect) and PBR rendering. Not as easy to setup as LW, but I think that effects would be worth learning.

Hello,
I am learning Houdini for the last two weeks. I am quite impressed with many new possibilities, but I am also suffering some basic tools I was using in other application.
I am looking for an equivalent of:
- “center” tool, that would center any geometry at the origin
- “merge polygon” tool, that would allow me to merge triangles into a four (or more) points polygons.
Are there any good nodes that will help me?

Ok, I was trying the “creep SOP”, but I'm doing something horribly wrong, as the results are not quite what I was expecting.
Maybe that is because I was finally using dxf file instead of EPS (I cannot import EPS file properly - there is a lot of missing elements in the geometry), but probably I just don't know how to setup “creep SOP” the right way.
I will do some more tests and analyse some “creep SOP” examples. Meanwhile, my current scene file is attached below.

Hello,
I am trying to find a way to project a flat EPS file (probably from Illustrator) onto a “dome” type object (half of a sphere).
The EPS is a circle with some ornaments inside. I want to project this file onto my dome, then use polyextrude and cookie node to cut holes into a dome leaving the rest. I was trying different nodes with names suggesting they will be some kind of a help, but at the time of writing they were not.
Can anyone share some light on that subject? Is there a way to “spherize” my EPS circle?

While on OpenGL preview it looks very nice, I am experiencing problems with rendering. Screen-shots and sample .hip file attached. Any ideas why it is happening? I did try closing caps in the tube node itself and with special cap node, but both of them gave me problems at the render stage.

Does anybody have experience with running Houdini (via Windows or Linux) on the MacBook Pro? That would be soo nice to share …Hi.
Houdini doesn't work on Windows / Mac Book Pro too well, because of the ATI X1600 video drivers (AFAIK). You have to turn off OpenGL acceleration completly. Linux seems to be better option, as I heard that there are different video drivers, but I still have to try it. Now, I'm back to LightWave.
Let me know if you try Linux / Houdini combo

(if you got the iMac or MacBook Pro, it should be the x1600, and that's about halfway down the massive list, select the first one - as there are several listings for the x1600). Then click next/continue till that finishes and enjoy!

This procedure doesn't seem to work on MacBook Pro, as it has ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 chip, and the ATI software (Catalyst) for the mobility versions doesn't work with the MacBook Pro…
Any other ideas besides disabling acceleration using System Veriable? Is linux version of Houdini working with Ati mobility X1600 cards?
