Hi,
I have my own custom pyro solver (built around the sparse solver). It works great for me and I use it all the time. I'm trying to get the pyro solver to access the GPU so it can be as fast (or similar)as the axiom solver. The code to axiom is locked up so does anyone knows how to access the GPU in the DOP? I have seen the OpenCl microsolver in the minimal solver, I'm assuming that I can use this for it. but I have no idea what to do with it. And there isn't much documentation. Can we use OpenCl with the sparse solver? I thought I remember something saying that you can use sparse but you can't use OpenCl at the same time. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to make a custom geo cache node, where I have a geo cache (/out). I added a parameter to the geo cache node, for versioning my file path, I copy relative ref into the file path so that I can Increment my file name, (_v1 etc.). How can I make this parameter auto Increment when I hit the render button?

I did see those dotted lines but I had no idea what those were. I thought they were somthing for placing the controls in the right spots. Are you getting the rig to finish generating? Did you just load up the json file and hit generate? I thought I unchecked the tongue as there is no need for those bones. Please let me know what you find out. Thanks Michael.

Hey Michael, I wanted to pass you on the project file that I made to show you the error as you mentioned that you couldn't recreate it. I have zipped up my .hip and the low res geo that I am working with. Also, I saved out the JSON files of the auto rig settings one is without the advanced face and the other is with the advanced face… the advanced face gives me this error when I hit generate rig (it does get about 60% finished before the error pops up).

Hi Michael, Thanks so much for getting back to me with your suggestion. I did as you suggested and updated to H17.5.425 and I am still getting the same generating error… (I actually didn't realize last time there was much more to this error than I thought before this is the whole code).

Hi, I know this is an old thread, but I'm having the same issue using 17.5.391? Was there a solution to this? I seem to set everything correctly. When I hit generate rig it gets about 2/3 of the way finished and I get the same error as above

I'm so excited for this release! I was a bit worried at first to see all the little teases of the interface but man it looks awesome!!! I just have one question, the rigging is jaw dropping but is there anything in there for facial rigging!!? the auto-rigging just looks like it only is for the main body parts. is there a way to add bones to the auto rig or is it still something that you'd have to build from the ground up?
Thanks!! I'm excited for our company to officially switch!!

I am trying to get HQueue to save to disk in the background. once I hit save to disk in back ground on the file cache node (and save the file), the scheduler pops up and says completed in 1 sec and no frames have been cached out. it doesn't seem to be throwing an error (unless I'm not looking in the right place). Has this happened to anyone? any solution or ideas would be fantastic. Thanks

HI I'm trying to create a tool that Matches IK to FK in a click of a button, using python.
Everything works great untill I copy the translation information from the tempNull (Which is put in place to act as the pre-transforms for the IK) to the ikHandle. When I run to tool they both fly off in to space? when I was hoping that the ikHandle would snap to the end of the bone. I'm assuming that this has something to do with pre-transforms but I can't figure it out. I have attached 2 still's as one is of the tempNull working correctly and snapping to the end of the bone (before I copy the transforms to the ikHandle) and the 2nd is the tempNull and the ikHandle shooting off into space. Sorry if this is vague, any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Rob

I have a sim'd mesh and i'm trying to transfer the sim from a static to a deformed geo… they are the same poly count through out. the cashed out sim is piped into the cloth capture node along with the rest geo. and then into the cloth deform. all is great until around frame 28 the transferred mesh dissapears and then reappears on frame 30… I tried to output an alembic thinking it might just be a display error… but at frame 28 I got an error saying failed to save the geo. Has anyone ran into this error? what I'm tryng to do it just transfer the sim from a static mesh to a deformed mesh. any help is greatly appreciated.
thanks

yes I think thats it (i'm not sitting with houdini at the moment) but in the rest position it sim works great. but as soon as it deforms the noise starts swimming it looks like the noise it in world space instead of local to the geo. the scatter sop out puts a posuv atrib should I bring that into the aanoise or is there a way to just do the sim on the mesh in the bind pose and then transfer the data through maybe the cloth capture and deform?

Great idea on getting a scatter on deforming geo sop! but ya know I did that attrib interp and that totally worked! and I was very happy…but the issue still existed so i'm thinking it might be something else. they points and pt number seem to stick. the aa noise is still swimming. Could it be that there needs to be uv atrib imported into the vop with the aanoise and the pcopen? how do I do this? would import the atrib that is set by the scatter into the VOP with the aanoise and the pcopen? I hope this isn't too confusing. Thanks again for all your help and suggestions!

thanks so much for responding although I didn't give you anything to help me sorry about that. I'm pretty new at this. I was trying a bunch of different things and one of them was the use a remesh to get the points instead of a scatter. I am having a really hard time even explaining what my problem is. here is a file that is I hope is a better help. i'm trying to do at pcopen on deforming geo but the noise seems to be swimming and not adding to the group. I ziped the file with 10 frames of the geo. please let me know what you see if you get a chance.

I can't seem to get my scatter to stick to deforming geo. I have tried a few different things. I get it this is a very beginner problem. But I am at a loss. I have tried to do a time shift on the first frame of the geo… then doing a measure by area. and then using the area attrib on the scatter but that didn't work. I tried the attrib interpolate and that didn't work. here is the file if anyone wants to take a look. thanks for your time

I have a geo cash (.bgeo) and I'm trying to get the nearest neighbor effect so that the near points will be added to a group over time. all is working great on a static mesh… but then i added the geo cash. yep it doesn't work because the point count and the scatter shifts all over. I have fixed this issue with freezing the first frame with a time shift… then a remesh (to get scattered points) then an add to delete the geo and keep the points. then with a point sop added the frozen points to the geo cash and bam I have a stable point count and animating on ever frame. but now the issue is.. that the points get added to the group on the 2nd frame and (depending on how I set the search rad of the pcopen) but then stop (or slow to an absolute crawl). Does anyone know why this would be happening?
any help appreciated
Thanks
