Technical Discussion » how to do breaking of multiple wires

Hello
I need some assistance please in trying to work out how to snap a load of wires.
In my set up included I have a few wires attached with a spring const.
My problem is when the force has exceeded enough for the wires to snap..the constraint releases for all the wires at the same time…is it possible to do this on a per wire basis….I do not want to have to create a seperate wire object for each wire cable.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

When inside a geo node it is possible to template geometry ..but when you go up a level out of sops the geo dissapears…is it possible to get the same behaviour as the camera so that when you go to the top level the geo displays as if it were templated (in wireframe) as per camera?
any help, as always, would be gratefully appreciated.

I get the same network refresh issue on my dual xeon (winXP home) with ati radeon x700 series card.
I have tried turning all the of options in the ati software on and off …the only option seems to be to use software ogl …(HOUDINI_OGL_SOFTWARE 1) this happens every time i try to drag select a node in the scene view and can be fixed by resizing the main gui window….until the next time that i drag select a node!
Any one have suggestions Please (apart from by nvidia)

unfortunately in maya you have to write a mel script to read in the objs and then use blend shapes to animate between them….I believe that there is a script on highend3d called objMorphSequence.mel or something like that.
I found the script…you can find it attached to this mail

Thanks Mark that worked a treat…….but pete putting quotes unfortunately did not work
as Hscript command only sees the name as a command only so with quotes it thinks the args are part of the command name and not arguments.
Thanks again for such a quick response.

I want to run a line like the one below on Linux
hscript -v xx.hip < ~/houdini8.0/scripts/test.cmd arg
but hscript see's the argument for my hscript as another file to load….How can I get around this behaviour??? and get the hscript to load up the scene and run my script with the right variables

Hiya All
I am fairly new to houdini and due to political resons…soon to be resolved….I am using vers 6
We are trying to render very fast moving objects.
The question I am asking is that if an object moves very fast in an arc in front of the camera then mantra seems to interpolate the motion blur in a linear fashion between shutter open and shutter closed ..Does mantra have a setting where you can set subframe samples? so we can achieve a smooth arc..
The sample scene provided has a sphere moving quickly in an arc in front of the cam…the motion blur is a straight line…not what you would expect
Any help would be gratefully accepted
Oh yes like all converts Houdini ROCKS!!!!
Ta in advance
