PDG/TOPs » print log too cluttered

mmm... never mind I guess. Just waiting for all upstream items to be cooked seemed to have done the trick.

So I have a simple python script that just print info from the work items as such:
Everything works fine except that the script is so fast that the result log is quite difficult to read, even if i limit the process one item at a time.
The output is something like:
josefinePedro
Maria
NicolasJose
etc...
I was wondering if there is anyway to make the process wait for the each work item to complete the log?
Strange problem to have I know, things are too fast!
x = work_item.stringAttribValue ("x",0) print (x)

PDG/TOPs » one sim two caches in top?

Hmm. No this is not what I was referring. I was talking about pdg top network having two caches will cook the sim twice.
But you did give me an idea. To delete all other vdbs before the last frame. Hence we have vel vdb for the anim and density and everything else for the last frame.

PDG/TOPs » one sim two caches in top?

I was wondering is there a way to split in top from one sim to caches?
Allow me to explain:
I have one sim which I want to record all data only at the last frame density, vel, flame, etc. But from the same sim I will like to save vel for all frames.
If I run two sop caches naturally the sim will run twice.
I wonder if there is a way to link two sop caches to one sim?
Does this make sense?

Is just one screen shot showing you were to change the start and end of your cache.....
Basically there you can tell the cache to start from 150 instead of $FSTART as you have it now....
You can make as many caches as you want and then read them through one as long as you are saving with the same name structure.
Check the example

Yes in your case is a simple case of changing the frame range you are caching... changit from $FSTART to 150 or whatever you want.
$F in the file exporter means Frame so once you have all the cache on disk it will read all files from 1-300

You need to be more specific about your question as there are many assumptions to be made....
For geometry caches(not simmulations) the answer is yes. if your cache is "Example_$F.bgeo" it will not matter if you send cache it in 2 or 3 or how many batches you want.
For simulations you need to set up a check point files which is a bit more complex.

Hi, so i am running in some errors when using backticks in the command send from houdini to Maya
such as:
Is there a way to send backticks to maya with the command send?
such as:
editDisplayLayerMembers -noRecurse layer1 `ls -selection`

PDG/TOPs » view code generated by the generic generator

tpetrickCool thanks @tpetrick. I knew that I must have overlook this somehow.
If you want to see the command that's generated for a particular work item, you can ctrl + middle-mouse click on that work item in the TOPs UI. The command line string for the work item will be listed directly in the attribute panel in H19.0 and earlier, and under the Cook Info section in H19.5. That applies to all nodes, not just the generic generator.

I came to love this generic generator top node.
The only issue I have is that I cannot figure how to troubleshoot it.
Is there a way to see the code generated by the command builder?
like a print ('script') or something?

I wonder how can I use a stand alone utility in python or pdg.
I am interested in using the isixpack utility but cannot figure it out how to send the command from inside houdini.

Well, its definetely a bug as it was working on 19.0 so I report it in the meantime to answer my own Q just in case someone else has the same problem I transformed the relative path into an absolute with:
`opfullpath ()`

I recently migrated from 19.0 to 19.5 and now my ROP FBX outputs do not seem to work..
it gives me this error:
Could not find the start node specified
It points to a SOP but even if I make it point to a geo node it doesn't work..
Anyone else getting this weird error in houdini 19.5 from 19.0

I've been trying the same thing for a while now the closest I got is creating an extract and delete button but Even if you make the HDA press the button onCreated it will give the same result as you.

Hi everyone, I just did a quick intro tut to Houdini RBD Bullet solver. It doesn't go too deep but I hope it helps a bit to those starting with the tool:
