Hello Ral,
I've heard you did the rocket tutorial. Is it possible that, with the VEX Super Material shader, the smoke comming from the rocket looks good, but the smoke from the ground is red colored ?(colored group particles)
For a test I assigned another shader (vex plastic) and that was not red colored.
They don't mentioned this in the online tutorial…
Many thanks,

Hello,
I have a particle system, which color my partilces via a ramp function ($LIFE) from blue to red.
If I append a Render POP to these particles, and render out in Spheres, i only get gray spheres.
How can I give these spheres the same color as the particles?
another problem:
I noticed also that render in Discs doesn't work…Lines, Tubes do work.
thanks

Hello,
I applied the VEX Hair Shader to my copied hair curves , but I don't get good results. What do they mean by “the curves can be shaded like tubes if applying the Vex Hair shader”. I don't get tubes.
I've done a simple test: draw a line, append a shader sop . When I render this line the shading is 90 degrees turned (vex hair shader)
On some places of the curves the highlights are too strong (full white).
Maybe it has to do with the light setup? .. I don't know. Any help is more than welcome.
Thanks,
bernard

OK thanks,
I've use a Facet SOP and it works great. To scale the line width , I add a AttribCreate SOP . I put width in variable, what must I do further to set my line width?
Many thanks

Hello TheUsualAlex,
thanks for the info, where can I turn on the “Point Normal” and how can I create the point normal ( do I have to use all 3: Point SOP, Facet SOP and AttribCreate SOP)?
Many thanks

Hello,
I want to make hair. I made a sphere , birth particles and copied a curve on the particles via a Copy SOP.
I got the following problems:
1/my haircurves are not staying up on the sphere. (they don't follow the normals)
2/ the haircurves, when rendered, are very big, how do I get them thinner?
3/ when I comb the normals with a Comb SOP, this don't seems to work; How do you use the Comb SOP (how can you visualize the normals so you can see the real combing?)
many thanks,
bernard

Hello,
I'm doing the vex tutorial:
http://www.digitalpostproduction.com/Htm/Features/2000/HoudiniVEX/HoudiniVex3.htm [digitalpostproduction.com]
They say to type $HOME in the textport to return a path. When I do this I get an error saying “ Can't open CDocum~1/Bern/MyDocum~1..”
Where is my Houdini $HOME path to put the VEX shaders?
Using H8.0.313 Apprentice
thanks,
bernard

Hello,
I've done the “intro to POPs tutorial -CatherineWheel”. When I render my scene I see only little gray spheres representing the particles.
How can I render my particles so I can see colored points or strikes ( eventually motion blurred) ?
In the tutorial they colored the particles with a Color POP, but why if they don't render in this color (of the ramp)?
Thanks,
bernard

Hello,
I did this tutorial (POP exercise) and all works fine in Houdini 7.
When I load the scene in houdini 8 , I get a “yellow error flag” on file1…file4 nodes, saying:
“use of param() function is absolete. Use stamp() instead”.
Does anyone knows what this means and how to eliminate this error? (how I can change this with stamp()…)

Thanks
