Hi,
i have various problems with remote rendering.
Ugliest first, i constantly get this error message :
UT_NetPacket::read: No error
mantra: Network Error Missing data in read – possible remote crash
the farmer-18 is used with the mantra -H farmer-18 option, most of the time this happens at the very end of the image. after this the render breaks.
it is not only one remote machine. it happens on various machines from time to time, quite frequently, but it does work correct sometimes
where can i start to look for the error?
next, not less ugly problem. during the night, most of the time 10 secs after going home the machine looses the connection to the license server. outch, render stops. the license server is on a linux machine, i use a windows machine to work, render and connect to remote hosts(windows). the license serving machine is running and is idle.
any hints?
next problem. pathes.
i have a lot of instances read from bgeo files from disk. instanced to points read from disk. mantra finds the geometry, but the textures are not found.
they are all referenced by $HIP/Geo/file or $HIP/Img/file
how can mantra resolve the geometry but not the textures? I'm confused
:?
<<EDIT: My geometry is saved inside the ifd during generation, so no wonder it was there>>>>
thanks in advance
martin

I have setup my render to use two farmers for rendering but unfortunately they don't find any textures. shadowmaps are also not found. all files are referenced by $HIP/path.. first I though it would be a linux workstation, windows farmer problem, but then i switched to awindows workstation, where the pathes are identical. but the error is still there. any hints to bring this error down.
do host need unc pathes or doesn't it matter as long as the resolved $HIP path is the same?

i have a object with 5000 points where i want to place instances, and the ifd generation takes about 3 minutes, with motion blur up to 10. how can I speed this up. maybe delayed load, but i cant get it to work with instances

You can use a chop network for this. use a object Chop to get the global transform. just a guess

it would be great to have these options easier to switch
may be a dropdown menu in the operation control toolbar
just a guess, might be that other users like it in the right mousebutton menu

Hi Kuba,
not sure if I got You right, but beside the shader path field there is a arrow button. clicking onto it brings You to the shop level, with the shader selected, or wiht ctrl clicked it opens a parameter panel of the shader.
hope it helps

You can not tell it, You must feel it
i can only talk for myself, but keep trying and pluging nodes read the docs when You see a node that seems interesting or unknown, check the various platforms for example files to see the work of experienced users and don't stop doing it. Sooner or later it will click very loud (and often).

maybe one reason why I'm not speculating in that field is the fact that I have no clue about this.
I'm not good in number's, especially this high.

I think You calculation is based on some very adventurous assumptions
That means that if only approx a quarter of those visitors bought ‘Escape’ at $1999 that would be approx $10000000 (Ten million dollars.)
Obviously Sidefx don't need the money. Rolling Eyes

Hi again
the expression:
primgrouplist(“../partition1”)
gives me a list of groups, but what expression gives me the size of the list?
I need to know how many entry the list does have.

why not to port on osx?!!! NO REASON!
time for porting it, that could be spend in other fields.
does the additional sold licences justify the porting cost.
this is not biased against or pro a port, just … considerations

Technical Discussion » How to render RBD with motion blur?

Hi,
I guess You used transformation motion blur, and Your object is inside geometryOBJ. That means Your object is not moving at all, but the points are moving. Right now I have no idea how to get a simulation to the object level, but in Your case You could use either the deformation motion blur or append a trailsop (set to compute velocity) and use the velocity attribute blur.
I think the fastest option would be transformation motion blur, but I know no way until now how to use it with rbd. May be someone else can help. But the two other options work quite well
cheers
