Hi,
Thanks. Worked quite good, but gave me unusable results in Octane render when I import it as an ABC file
But it was the hint I was waiting for. I attached two Boolean nodes (one for seams, the other with solid/surface) and added the Normal SOP. Only problem are some difficulties elsewhere on the model… (see picture) any ideas?
Best wishes,
Thomas

Hi,
When I create a boolean out of an OBJ file and an Houdini box, I get a strange result with these black shadings. What am I doing wrong?
Best wishes,
Thomas

Hi,
I usually create effects in Houdini and import them into Octane. But there seems to be a scaling problem in H16. In H15, it all worked well. I could export geometry via Alembic into Houdini, create the effects, and import it into Octane. However, now, if I import a VDB file into Octane, the VDB container does not fit right in. It's too small or too big. Any ideas?
Best wishes,
Thomas

Hi,
Thx for your response. A Python node attached to the import_source node does the trick. The specification is according to Otoys scatter node: https://docs.otoy.com/#standalone-v3-geometry-the-scatter-node [docs.otoy.com]
Source code below…
Best wishes,
Thomas

Hi,
I created several SIM files and wants to create VDB files out of them. Creating a dopnet and then attach a file node to the output node works. But I have trouble using a dopimport in a geometry node to create the vdb file. I just cannot make the dopimport node show the smoke.
Any ideas here?
Best wishes,
Thomas

Hi,
I want to create a file that is filled with particle positions. Something like that:
1,2,3
3,2,1
2,2,0
These would be the x,y,z positions of particles.
Can I do this kind of stuff with a filedata node? Or a file node in conjunction with a vex node? Or do I need to use Python for this kind of task?
Best wishes,
Thomas
