Is this documented yet? All the searches I do bring up the old one?
Our new autorigging masterclass is due out today. There will be an announcement from us on the social media when that happens.

just my 2 cents here. The rigging tools in Houdini is amazing. We've been using them for a while now (not the auto rigger) and are happy in general. For us, setting up rig Hda's (workflow) is something that can greatly improve. I've submitted RFE's and I'm sure SideFX is listening.
Great job guys, and can't wait for the Masterclass.

Very excited about the rigging masterclass, when do you think that will be available?

Rethinking the view controls is not something for me to do, it's something for SideFX to do, by adding more options or modes.

I am using polyline to generate trails and I am having trouble figuring out how to render them with smooth shading.
For both point and vertex have tried adjusting the normals, fuse, etc but it seems to have no effect
am I missing something? My renders always show faceting on curved areas. The only option I can find is to resample to add more points.
thanks for any insight

I'm just wondering if we will see a Heightfield Masterclass at some point?
So many cool tools in the mix and not so much time to self explore.

Hi,
How i can get a clean edge from A-B edge group with the new boolean SOP. as we have this nice green guide in the viewport i guess that should be possible
EDIT: i managed to extract a curve with the polycurvefromEdges asset from orbolt without the outputgroup from the boolean. Nevertheless it would be nice to know how to use the outputgroups for such a purpose.
Many thx

I know there's a way to use the Old node
but i try to keep with the new usage (just to keep up to date :-) )
Yes, but in some of my scripts old node works better

Is it possible to save what is currently in the active viewport using Python? Like flipbook for just one frame. I cannot find a way to do this and would really appreciate help.

We found that our models were brought in from Maya and 100 times their size. We transform node scaled the models down .01 and the guides line up better.
But still, how do you scale the rig up for a giant sized character? Is there a global scale?

Houdini is Bones based and not Joints
… what is the difference?
…
With the new autorig and being limited to 60mins, I doubt Michael Goldfarb will talk much about manual rigging. I could be wrong.

Update works very well so far guys! Thank you!
Will there be any more quick tip videos on the features like rigging and fracturing (destruction) processes that were shown during the live presentation?
a slew of new vids are up.
Thanks!
Actually those are the same exact ones on the SideFX website lol. Nothing on rigging fracturing though. Hmmmm.

“Unfortunately we didn't have time to get the shader preview working as smoothly/quickly as we wanted, so we decided it was best to just leave it out for now. COPs are currently the only nodes that can support previews.”
when you say “just leave it out for now.” does that mean it will be in <16> on February 21 or much longer down the road , I was very much looking forward to that feature. Can we have some clarification when it will be in please.

Thanks SESI. Very strong release!
One question. Is it possible to add simple python functions to new radial menus. Thanks

Use ‘9’ and ‘0’ for chain/tree selections
Not as straight forward as in XSI, but… it's there

Not sure will this answer your question, but I was using Houdini Indie on GridMarkets, but with Mantra, not sure will that be possible with 3rd party renders.

The new CookieSOP is almost imminent…
Cristin
I wish a new Cookie SOP were imminent I'm afraid it isn't.
We do hope to have the new PolyBevel ready sometime soon, though. We would like not to wait until the next big Houdini release.

Time to smarten this thing up.
Cool. Does this mean we're gonna soon have a new bevel or is this enlightenment going the current bevel tool?
