Hello.
I tried to connect two selected points (generate a line between them) on unconnected facets in direct modeling, and I'm failed.
I'm not good at direct modeling and I find topobuild may not achieve the aim.
Can anybody help me?
Thanks.

Great example! Is the ‘Curve Custom Split’ available in your hPro HDA tools yet? Your examples and HDAs are very helpful. Thanks
I plan to release my CityEngine Procedural Modeling Tools(curve custom split SOP also is part of the tools) in the future, maybe this year or next year, but not now, sorry. Because I've not completed the tools yet.

Aizatulin's example is great, and you can use attribute interpolate or intersection stitch to interpolate the point attribute from origin curve.
I use intersection stitch SOP a lot on curve, it's really a powerful SOP.
I also used array to achieve the aim.
But you may need to convert all the parameters to attributes that make the feature truly procedural.

as malbrecht said, it's a personal thing.

I just want to say that self-learning is a life-long thing for everyone.
no matter which reason you start to learn houdini, even no matter what you will do in the future, self-learning is necessary for delving deeper in any field.

…so, your origin geometry is not curve but polygon?
but why you say "The curves are all flat on the XZ plane, so the edges are all intersecting"?
i am so curious why tamte can get the point from your words. ⊙﹏⊙∥

blackbeardif you do not show the hip, i am hard to do further
I tried your boolean curve hda but for me it doesn't do anything. I can't even pick which boolean operation I want to use.
+1 for your signature though.

you can use end SOP to close straight one curve and extrude it along curve normal and than fill the cap, finally use it to boolean with other curves by intersect analysis / stitch SOP or try my Boolean Curve [vimeo.com] HDA to boolean other curves.
Furthermore, if you only want to get the profile curve, perhaps my Get Outline [vimeo.com] HDA can achieve it.
I must say Houdini is so good at solving curve (but does not have a handy curve SOP)…

Houdini Learning Materials » Which is the best way to learn Houdini?

Yes, there are truly a few tutorials to describe each module of Houdini systematically.
Even the few tutorials, most of them are not delving deeper but just a introduction.
You can compare other tutorials with the Master Classes which made by John Lynch.
It really needs a Master to make a master tutorial…
———————————————————
I think the tutorials from Rohan Dalvi are good for beginner and he is very good at shading and rendering.
If you want to go deeper into the VFX field, I think Applied Houdini is the best tutorial.
And if you want to learn more things in other filed of Houdini, it seems lack of the systematic tutorials.
You may try to learn some systematic tutorials of other Application and try to rebuild them in Houdini to enhance your understanding of Houdini.(I find the people like BW Design / Entagma, they all have the experience of other application / programming before learning Houdini…)
e.g. there are many tutorials of Rigging / Hair in maya, many tutorials of XParticles in C4D. You can use any application to achieve a target as long as you know the idea behind it.

Building Generator SOP is not so difficult to build, and I think it is a “less usable” SOP.
SideFX Labs should make some basal SOPs for procedural modeling but not a comprehensive SOP.
Here is the rough flow diagram of Building Generator SOP, hope you like it

please use orientation along curve SOP in Houdini 18
poly frame can generate many types of frame but except curve
I often use poly frame SOP to generate frame from UV or other attrib, but it is not good at generate frame of curve

first, it is not VEX…
second, $F < 16 && $F > 70 means the moment of $F must < 16 and > 70, it is impossible, so the result of ($F < 16 && $F > 70) is always False(0)
