I have never looked into CHOPS but after reading (seeing) what was here I applied the .hip to a whale model I had. Looks awesome but I have some questions if thats ok.
When I apply CHOPS to the bones I select all of them and right click> Motion FX> Wave.
It creates a setup a little different to the hip that was on the thread.
Is the set up correct in the picture?
Also animation curves usually have some delay, ramping in and out. Can this be applied to add more sense of weight to the movement?

Yeah I have the first part of those tuts, great stuff in there. Those were Houdini 14 and things have changed a bit what with SHOP being moved to Materials and the Principled Shader being used now.

Good evening,
Having some issues understanding shading in Houdini.
I created a rigid body sim and the model already has UVs and some textures. I created some attributes and wanted to use them to add to these textures within Houdini, masking sections to add noise and add bump mapping to areas.
I would like to use the edge attribute I created to apply a crack style bump to the mesh. Please see the attached files (I had to dlete some of the textures due to attachment limit). Still learning so much about Houdini, the depth is insane and constantly tripping over my mistakes.
Many thanks in advance,
Kind Regards,
Duncan

Houdini Indie and Apprentice » Creating points then making them age over time.

Hi,
I am trying to create points that will age oer time so it can be used as density in a sim.
The points grow around an object from a set start point, once they are created I want to add ID and AGE attributes and over time each point dies out (maybe each slightly randomly)
I have created the set up and created the ID and AGE attributes but cant figure out the death over time part.
In the debris solver they use alot of VEX to create points when object split and these points age over time once created. I dont understand VEX well enough to hack this code so need help. A VEX version or VOP version would be greaty appreciated.
I have attached the HIP file
Thank you in advance.

Good Evening,
Loving Houdini except it has me scratching my head in confusion constantly. Currently trying to work with animated noise that moves across an object.
The idea is the object will appear from this noise pattern. Forming slowly from bottom to top. I have the noise working but cant control its position and isolate just the direction instead its just random all over.
Image and Hip attached
I tried another method using points them converting to VDB but I don't like the look as the noise has a subtle gradient that really works well.
Would love some help regarding this. Thank you in advance.
