I don't have any lights in the scene. Default setup and a sphere node.

Houdini Lounge » fully Shadeless viewport - inside object node

Hello, I have a bit of a weird problem. My viewport inside an object node is absolutely unshaded regardless of which mode I click, including lighting quality. Though it's fine outside a node. Just like 3ds max 2017 flat shading.
But here comes the funny part when I open one of my tutorial files they work just fine. I tried to compare if somewhere in the settings there is a difference, but there ain't.

Is there somewhere a list of all the houdini 16 shortcuts? I want to know what are the unused keys in the various menus which keys i don't know and so on.
I saw the hotkeys include list which has about 50 files associated. A bit too many to go through

Houdini Indie and Apprentice » Extrude along global axis

Hello, as the name of the topic states, I want to extrude along global axis instead of normals.
For example I have a sphere cut a little more than half way. When i use polyextrude from the cut edge the extrusion goes outwards (along normals) But i want to go straight up or in other cases outwards parallel to the ground plane. Older versions of the node seem to have the option, but how do i do it with houdini 16

Worked like a charm . Using value * relbbox(@P).y is much nicer and more intuitive.
Thanks a lot, and now to continue teaching my noobness more vex.

Technical Discussion » Vex - bbox color graident (new point node)

Hello,
I am following a tutorial and a part of it shows how to use bounding box expression to make a color gradient using the old point sop. That's all fine but I want to make it work using the new point node, hence with vex. I have attribute set to color and I wrote relbbox(@P).y in the “VEXpression” area but that ignores my color and just makes a black to white gradient. If I write the expression in one of the color parameters for example red, the node defaults everything to black.

Houdini Indie and Apprentice » Handle thickness, tolerance and axis lock ?

Hello,
I`ve got a coupe of handle related questions
1.Are the handle thickness and tolerance adjustable? I am asking because i think i saw a setting for it but can't find it now. I know older version were not capable.
2.Is translation, rotation and scaling done more often through the node editor than the viewport?
3.Can you axis lock besides middle mouse and drag the direction you need? Sometimes its difficult, to get the correct direction.
4.Can you change the MMB axis lock to another button apart from remapping your mouse?

Houdini Indie and Apprentice » Why does houdini apprentice last 1month

Hello, today I tried to get in houdini (apprentice) and I received a license error. I proceeded to reinstall my license as prompted but was given an error. I found out that the license file was not editable so I lifted the restrictions so houdini could do its job, but I noticed that the new license is only one month, about the time since i initially installed houdini and got the error.
So I am curious as to why does the license need to be renewed every month.
