Unfortunately , posting a few pictures doesn't really help , clearly you need to debug your scene , first off you should be looking at the object level transforms. if all looks good there you should then be looking at the dop object node , at every stage you can view what each node is doing by setting the display flag and looking at where the data is cooking.

N is the normal vector that is defined on each point of your polygon mesh. See attached , you could also brush those normals to point in different directions. What your doing is very old school

Hi, you can get a better look by scattering some points , making sure to look up N on the surface geometry that your scattering onto. That way when you copy stamp your lines they will look up N and align to it.

Not sure how $MAX would be helpful , how about using something like bbox(“../null1”,D_XMIN) in the origin parameter of the mirror sop .

Please note :- I am asking you to post a simplified scene that shows the crash issue. The fist rule of debugging and trying to find out where the problem is. Is to strip your scene down and simplify. If your worried about sharing the scene PM me with the details.

Your right pyro does not work well at all on fast moving objects ie missile trails , but a cart with a lantern swinging on the back is in the realms of should work just fine. Please fee free to post your scene and we can take a look . Export out of Modo as an alembic file.

Hi All ,
Total brain freeze > how can I have a different seed value every 25 frames but have that seed value hold for the next 25 frames.

It would indeed seem like your having a tough time. All you need to use is a file sop to read your geometry mesh, remember the geometry sits on disk and the file sop reads it. So if you move the geometry file , your file sop will not be able to find it.

I have tried everything and I get issues with the winding order, even after rebuilding the curve. Maybe revise how you create the twist and do that as a post created line effect.

Hi,
This is one of those cases where there is simply no reason to use a sim in pops. The lines can be created all in sops, you can expand the look to add gradient colour. Thickness and so much more, plus you gain full control.
