Hi Ryu ku welcome to Houdini's world
Probably your answer reside on Python in Houdini with python you can personalize the interface and a little script will help you a lot.
Sorry my knowledge is short but wait a little more someone with more proficiency can help you better
Otherwise you can use Houdini's help to see how Python work.

Hi Mr Arctor you are very kind to answer the questions in your vacation.
I'm sorry I am not explain correctly my point of view.
In a 2d software “onion skin” is very handy in Houdini too.
The problem is when I use it I never found any way to freeze the “onion skin” pose during animation…
Let's think if I use Bea(female's Houdini character) and active onion skin I can go to misc tab and press D to set some configuration.
But the configuration not give to me any option to “freeze or bake” the specific pose to use like a reference that can help me.
Some thing like this below:
It is near what I thought but it will be more useful if we can have control to put the pose static may a “node” to do it
Any way now I'm studying character animation a lot and try to transfer all knowledge to Houdini.
Sorry to take this converstation to long but I think in a few time a lot of character animators will come to Houdini.
I'm use Houdini Indie this is a great tool to start our way.

The only things I missing is Greace Pencil like Blender and motion trail like Maya(a curve for see animation control path and edit it) and a little help on ghost in Houdini we need some features to make it more useble.
My apologies I finally found “Maya motion trail” in Houdini is the new “MOTION PATH” when I read the help I saw it and tried…wonderful
Let's go ahead….

Hi I finished the new rigging lesson from Mr Goldfarb.
What can I say…wonderful…
Since I started on Houdini (15 indie)I thought that make rigging here(Houdini)is good because the logic in Houdini is very clear… but now I have a big smile on my face.
I used to make rigging in another two package and no one of then have a clear, beautiful an organize node editor like our Network Editor.
If you count that is possible to make custom nodes and use images to make things clear it open a hole new world.
About animation I start to use default female_rig Bea to make some exercises in my opinion it is easy to use more than I expected.
The real time reaction on Houdini interface is a little bit slow than other package but the flip-book is very good.
Now I am very curios to see how Houdini's Capture can help us when we bind geometry to the rigging.
The only things I missing is Greace Pencil like Blender and motion trail like Maya(a curve for see animation control path and edit it) and a little help on ghost in Houdini we need some features to make it more useble.
Sorry to write to much but rigging and animation walk together.
To make this post short Thank you SideFX for the good initiative to make this rigging series.
Thank you Mr Goldfarb for help us

In my opinion what is closer is “CTRL+B” and close the shelfs.
In order to acess the tools use “TAB” menu.

Guys believe in the end it is only about math.
SideFX is a company that listen but to make a good algorithm with VEX or with a new technology is not simple as we think.
If you watched the last presentation about Houdini 16.5 the man that start the presentation(not remember his name now)told about it, something like “we know about render please wait”.
Today a lot of new render engine are on this new way but lets think a little Houdini have a lot of wonderful news since version 15 probably in future versions we will have good news.
When it no start don't worry we have solution in the market, one more simple thing we have a thread called “thought about Mantra” maybe there is more suitable for this question ;-)
Any way this year is finishing soon let's see Houdini in version 17 :-)

Not about speed but now when you increase samples the noise is reduced more easily.
Before this release to get glass and clear coat without noise was a big problem.

Welcome AlexVovk to Wizard's world :-)
If you came from Maya it is normal that at first glance the things here is a little bit different… only a little.
When you start to modeling at first you are slow down because the interface need a little more mouse click but if you customize it you will have no problem.
To help you in your journey try to use Blender with Houdini it will be a good partner some weak parts on Houdini like sculpting and simple things you can do in Blender very well and export o Houdini.
Big things and complicate things will be easy in Houdini.
One important thing here is to know that you need to think a little different in order to unleash the Houdini power's called “procedural thinking” if you understand it a little you gain a lot of power and speedy.
Houdini have Apprentice version that have no cost and very small limitation after you get comfortable you have Houdini Indie.
In order to learn try to explore the site the learn path here at the top of the site is a good point to start.
Mr Rohan Dalvi made great movie in order to start in Houdini, at Pluralsight you have a good videos too.
Any thing you not understand came to the forums.
Have a nice day.

Hi congratulation for the beautiful work.
It inspire me a lot.
I'm a freelance and I have interest in simulation.
Could you tel what kind of hardware is a minimum necessary to do some simulation like you did?
I do not understand noting about simulation sorry the simple question.

I loved the entire video and some things catched my attention:
01 We saw a lot of animation into Houdini——> great
02 I read near the end some things about Mantra? Less noise—-> very good
Maybe the time for Rigging and Animation characters into Houdini will be start…
What do you think?
If SESI could you help us little bit with one or other tutorial…we can walk more easily :-)

Hi Doug91 welcome to Houdini's world .
A lot of people here know Maya and other application.
To be honest Houdini is wonderful and very powerful but ever software have strength and weakness.
Before you take your decisions try to use Houdini Apprentice get more Knowledge and of course about Houdini's procedural think.
Maybe this video can help you to start:
About you thinking to use Blender and Houdini is a good choice, but both software can have their on method to do the things right.
Blender community is very friendly and here perhaps with a more direction question you will have a lot of help too ;-)
Start with Houdini's beginners tutorials and have a happy day ;-)
(sorry my terrible English)

Hi my name is Harry this is the second year I bought Houdini Indie.
I like Houdini and I respect so much SideFx, but I'm a freelancer and to be honesty to use mantra day by day is not good to make money.
Houdini with the procedural think is wonderful but in the end time is money…I read this thread and in the end I found this comparative video.
Maybe it not just etc but now I'll use Houdini in my day work because now I know how I'll delivery my work on the right time.
If the next year Houdini have a new mantra to use with Cuda or OpenCl it will be good.
But for me with only one processor in my machine to use Mantra is impossible.
