Hi.
I've been working on a new asset which creates trees. I have a problem with parameters. Sometimes parameters do not work.
I attached my hip with otl. Could you check it, please? I think this can be a bug. Or my mistake. I also reported it to SideFX support.
Here my video test where i show that when i do ramp parameter to 0 - all other parameters will not work.

Hi.
I did a simple asset which can calculate curve length for every point. I did the last node with python as i know only python. Could you help me to transfer it to vex/vop, please?
Thank you a lot. I attached my hip file with unlocked otl.

Hi.
I did 3DCoat-Houdini Applinker asset. It's possible to export-import meshes and export textures from 3DCoat. Very useful for modeling and texturing artists.
The asset: http://www.orbolt.com/asset/mifth::mifth_3dcoat_applinker [orbolt.com]
- Set the Exchange folder before exporting/importing. On linux it's at ‘home/user/3DCoatVersion/Exchange’. On Windows it's somewhere at user documents. 3DCoat creates such a folder itself.
- Tested on Linux. If you have any issues on Windows then write me here.

Hi.
Is it possible to assemble mesh by uv parts? A mesh like this one http://download.autodesk.com/us/mudbox/help2010/images/MED/Dragnet/English/Painting/comp_uv_multitile.png [download.autodesk.com]
Just like Assemble node can make groups for every mesh part.
I would like to make the same for uvs separation. It could be primirive groups or vertex groups separation.
Could you help me?
Thanks.

I'm getting this error when trying to upload a new version of an asset:
Internal error
OTL COMPILING failed (return code 1 )
Is this the same problem?
Peter.
Yep. It seems. It's H15 indie assets problem.

Adding geometry() like:
hou.node('/obj/sphere_object1/sphere1').geometry().saveToFile('$HOME/Documents/Exchange/exchange.fbx')
should fix this
Thanks for the answer. The exporter cannot export to fbx. Only obj/dxf/lwo.
And I cannot export a scene with hierarchy to fbx with python. I'll write to SESI for a feature request.

Have you tried the saveToFile () method passing a filename with the .FBX extension?
node.geometry().saveToFile(file_name)
http://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini14.0/hom/hou/Geometry#saveToFile [sidefx.com]
Thanks for the reply. I created a sphere object and tried this code:
hou.node('/obj/sphere_object1/sphere1').saveToFile('$HOME/Documents/Exchange/exchange.fbx')
But i got exception:
>>> hou.node('/obj/sphere_object1/sphere1').saveToFile('$HOME/Documents/Exchange/exchange.fbx')
Traceback (most recent call last):
File “<console>”, line 1, in <module>
AttributeError: ‘SopNode’ object has no attribute ‘saveToFile’

Hi.
I cannot find how to export to fbx some nodes with python. Is it possible to do in Houdini. I have Indie version.
I only found fbx importing through python: https://www.sidefx.com/index.php?option=com_forum&Itemid=172&page=viewtopic&t=16206&highlight=&sid=0e48aeb092269469b0504485d319a8ca [sidefx.com]

I had the same question a while ago.
Unfortunately no….. Houdini Indie is tied to your computer.

Seems like a job for Match Topology SOP + Attrib Copy SOP, just wrap around some python and put it on the shelf
It seems you are right. Match Topology is already in Houdini. It just needs a DigitallAsset for more parts to paste.
Then this feature is already in Houdini.

Attribute transfer does UV transfer. It could be wrapped into a nice asset to have a better user experience, but the functionality, and more is there.
I guess the Attribute Transfer node does not count topology. If verts indexes are different on meshes…
This algorithm sorts all verts by topology. And sure it can transfer other data as you mentioned.
It would be great to have such a tool on the toolshelf in Houdini.
