If this [odforce.net] is still valid I'll not be able to generate .ifd files to be distributed, won't be able to use remote processing nor multiprocessing, also I'll need a license for every node.
Definitely a no go.

I'll have direct access to a cluster with about 200 total CPUs.
Question is if will be possible to use it as render farm, with just the 1 Mantra token attached with Apprentice license.
Understood Mantra license is locked on the server name, wondering if this mean I'll be able to use just one node of the cluster.

Thanks, this is useful.
I did have anyway a problem, Classic Shader didn't have the same structure the tutorial is changing in Mantra Surface as at 15:20 of the following video, do you think need I to use another shader more similar to Mantra Surface

I'd find impossible to sell projects without having nothing to show, and there is no one available and reliable in creating a personalized reel and work on small projects to start with.
Real experts are always far away, busy and expensive, there is also no local school generating volunteering students.
I'm passionate enough to try and push, with some useful basic skills.
Hopefully later some other will take over.

With enough focus, research and learning I hope to be at the right place in the right time :-)
In the corporate world I'm seeing a lot of data visualization and realtime experience going on. But much less in my area, even if it's one of the most wealthy at national level. Starting with public science edu will be an idea, I'll try also to leverage my position in some innovative companies both in tech and design, to show something. Need to focus on a single output to reach, relevant to show in let's say 3 months.

At the end it always come down about how good you are in your specialty. I want to search for some specific possibly not crowded sector, so to cut time and have more opportunities. I've no illusion of immediate response and learning, but can't start a journey with no perspectives.
Having no one to speak with locally about these topic, I feel interesting just exchange info here, where I'm reading real experts all the time.

aRtyeI'm trying to stay concrete. VFX it's my passion since many years, but I was able to approach 3d only lately with limited available effort, and Houdini literally in the last week.
This is a very strange way to look at things. For example ‘corporate usage’ in video land usually sterile & cheesy productions.
To have a working chance and not maintain it a hobby I need to cross where I have experience and credibility, where there is a market for it, where I can differentiate, where there is growth in the sector and geographic area I can access, and invest time and concentrate on specific elements, it's too late to be a generalist.
There are already many excellent VFX specialist in movies, commercials or video games, looking for something else. Or you think I'm missing to account some big opportunity.

Interesting, I was also thinking about science education even if my question was about corporate usage.
Having a Physics degree and also a MBA I'm in both the topics.
Local Nature Museum might be interested, I'll need to find also more for corporate usage, but I'm finding only medicine related topics, really not my area.

Always seen Houdini used into movies, commercials, video games, events.
Apart data visualization I didn't find any other corporate usage, since my background it's all corporate and only recently design, I'm interested to know if there are any other usage I missed.

I'm just at the beginning, but with a machine needing 30 min rendering out 1 sec of a simple particle system animation I'd see already myself spending hours waiting instead of experimenting and creating.
A new PC will be better but never fast enough with my budget, so instead of investing now for being anyway slow I'm checking the farm options to be used at need with small progressive investments but fast final results.
Searching a bit this is the list I got with Houdini / Mantra support and the cost for 250 frames of my animation (Particles Fun tutorial)
Amazon EC2 no more supported (?)
https://www.prorender.de/renderservice-renderserver-rendermodul-renderfarm-online-miete.html [www.prorender.de] Germany, i7 6800k €2.1
https://animarender.com [animarender.com] Russia, $2.83, any number of server
http://fox.robust.my/ [fox.robust.my] Malaysia, $3.83
https://www.zyncrender.com/ [www.zyncrender.com] USA and Asia Google cloud, $5 for preemptible 8 core virtual machine, only Houdini FX e Indie (?)
http://www.myrenderbox.com/ [www.myrenderbox.com] Canada, $7 with Diamond render no waiting
http://www.gridmarkets.com [www.gridmarkets.com] USA, appear to be the most expensive $7.5 (?)
A couple of questions:
Packing the project it come out 13GB, composed 99% from .bgeo files. Will I need to upload it all the times for every project
Does someone have experience about previous farms, or can suggest others.

Using your suggestions I did find indeed source_particles>Render>Geometry>Render As Points property.
Setting as No Point Rendering didn't produce any output. Setting as Render Only Points you can change the point size using the Point Scale and achieve nice results.

Trying to follow the “Particle fun” tutorial I used the Classic shader for particles as replacement of the Mantra Surface.
The rendering result is odd, with no points and instead some big spheres.
Confused if I need to use a different shader - using Principled Shader didn't change anything - or something else.

I know this is a old topic, but following the “Particles Fun” tutorial I need to use the Mantra Surface shader.
Using the Material Palette Filter didn't find anything with this name or with Classic Shader.
I did find the Classic Shader in the Asset Library but didn't find a way to load it as material.
Edit: discovered I need to go to /mat, press tab, search for Classic and next drag to the window.

My focus is to create particle effects to be used in intro videos and events.
Interested to know experts opinion if new Houdini 16 does lower the learning curve for this specific feature, and if there is a big feature advantage vs the particle system available in TouchDesigner.
