Man i really must be missing sumthing,whenever i move the pivot(insert) on an object that doesnt have zero rotate/translate,…the object moves too….in maya and carrara(and after effects),when in pivot mode your efforts affect only the pivot…….consider trying to animate an object that needs an animated pivot point….e.g…..a box rolling(without using dops)…..the " option wont give u accurate rotations also

The shader in exchange is perfect,when used in h10,it supports tangent maps,…BUT it wont work in h11 : (

Im using a paint sop,a vopsop to change the color(vecttor)into a float(luminosity)……a create attribute sop creates a new attribute by subtracting lumosity from 1…. A point sop has two inputs …(.the default shape and the deformed shape..)….an expresion uses the two attributes to weight which points are moved …i will upload a picture once i get home….i suspect your method is similar

Go to the shadow tab of your light,go to the shadow mask property and select only the objects you want shadowed…..(an easier way for multiple lights/objects is to go open a new pane,select light linker as new pane type,and select from there…..u might also want to read about light bundles in the houdini help,)

I cant understand why using normal maps in houdini never gives me a desired result,all shading dissapears leaving me with a toon style cel shading render,has anyone ever used normal maps from z brush?(in all other apps they worl perfectly)

Im making full face blend shapes using edit sops,i now want to split them into…brow and mouth areas,is there Ny way of doing this,with falloff…..for example,if i have,a smiley face,and i want to separate the eye squint from the lips smile,i want a way that will have a sort of smooth falloff,coz groups is too harsh

Ok,is there anyone here who has ever made a loop,using any other software?…..in maya,or max,or xsi,or carara,or daz,or poser…..what you specify as the cycle will be looped regardless os wether the relative positions are not exactly the same in your start and end……(it is imposibl to make them exactly the same anyeay)

Ok to put in in a simpke way,dont even make a compkex rig….just insert a box and a sphere,….make sure they start at the same point….then animate them to reach point b,but making sure the sphere is a little bit infront of the box…..now make this into a clip,and loop it…the little negligible sapce will increase with everey consecutive loop,……..now from a character rig point of view,this just means ,disatnce between ur targets will be gradually increasing,until your character is doing real bizzare stuff

Il try upload a series of pics,but with other apps(maya,max,softimage,carrar)the whole animation is repeated like a block,but with houdini every single chanel is looped individually,what this results in is,if there is any difference between the object positoins relative to each other at the start of the loop and a the end of the loop,this difference increases,and increases an increases with each consecutive loop

Is there anyone who has been able to succesfully loop a walk cycle in houdini,i think houdinis was made for dyunamics and not characters…..looping a walk cycle is childs play in max,maya,carrara,softimage….e.t.c….but in houdini i cant seem to find a way to do it,…the cycle with offset in chops,will start giving you very weird results afte three or more iterations…..houdini is so good,apart from this issue,im pleading,guyz……is there sonethin im misssing?,is there anyone here who has or can think of a way to make a walk cycle in houdini?

Yo,im sorry…this doesnt seem to work…all this does is light my scene using the enviroment map…….what i wanted to do was….have an image appear in the background(the part of my render that is is currently black)….in carrara puuting an image in this way…results in ur scene looking like u mapped ur enviroment map on the inside of a big sphere that encompasses ur scene…its kind of like u mapped ur image on the sky……and so rotating ur camera has ur image behaving accordingly…do u see what i mean…….

In the network view,when i press shift +G a mysterious tab appears,it is vaguely reminescent of the tree view…….my questions are
1.how do i make itgoaway (pressing shift G again does not work)
2.what does it do?/i have looked for it in the houdini help but to no avail…even just telling me the name of that pallete would help
