I think you should turn on preserve group option on `EXPLOSION POINTS' and increase the oversampling on popnet.

On DOPNET there is a scale time parameter. If you want slow motion, set the value lower than 1. If you want to speed up the thing,s increase the value above 1.
If your sim is taking 24 frames to complete and you want it to last for 37 frames , go to scale time para and write 24/37 in it.

Hi.
I want to group polygons which can be visible through the viewport camera.(all the polys which are forming surface of the geo. Please refer the attached file. )
1) I tried it using attrb transfer but it is not giving me good results.
-> scale the output using transform node or peak node slightly and then transfering an attribute from scaled output to nonscaled output to group polys which are visible.
2) I tried it by applying uv texture by ‘perpective from camera ’ method thinking only visible polys will get uv attribute but it didnt work.
Can some one please help with this?

HI, what I understood is this
Particle can be a member of a group if it satisfies certain condition / s. There could be two situations
1) Particle always satisfy the condition so it will always be a member of that group.
2) Particle satisfies the condition for some period and not for the rest of the period.
In this case if PRESERVE GROUP is turned on then HOUDINI will always remember the particle which has ever satisfied the condition, meaning once you become member of the group you will always be a member of that group even if you are not satisfing the condition necessary to be a member of that group.
If PRESERVE GROUP is turned off then HOUDINI will check the condition necessary to be the member of the group on every calculation step (which it does even when PRESERVE GROUP is turned on ) and only those particles which are satisfing the condition at that specific timestep will be the members of that group.

There are total 18 channels in the geometry out of them only 6 are related to transformation in x. So I should have created tx in wave chop instead of tx
It works on all the tx channels.
I don't know if it is possible to create a single channel in the wave chop and add it to only 6 tx channels in the geometry chop.

1)In the wave chop I changed the name of channels from chan to tx and created 18 channels ( tx)
2)In math chop i chose ‘match by channel name’
It worked, but I don't know if this is the right method of doing it.

I could not do that with your file :? It is affecting all the attribs. It is something about math node that we are not aware of.

Did you try tx? or tx* depending upon what you want to do.
Check the output of spring1 and spring2. spring1 is only affecting tx and spring 2 is affecting all.

Just by mentioning the frame number directly in the start frame para , it works. But if you write an expression like $F>169 or $SF>169 it is not working. Does this mean houdini evaluates this para only at the start?

Basic query HOW TO USE FOLLOW INDEX
I have particle groups (lemmingsred, lemmingsblue and lemmingsgreen) and 3 leaders (leader1, leader2 and leader3)
I don't know how to control which particle group should follow which leader?
I tried it using follow attribute == $ID%3 and based on this $FOLLOW value grouped them as lemmingsred/green/blue and then using source group and leader group options in the follow tab managed to control which particle group follows which leader. I used 3 follow pop nodes for this but I can not collect their output in one node as these nodes are processing the same particles. Is this the wright way?
I may not be able to comment in this week.

Hello Sir. I could not open your file. Houdini crashes each time I try to open that file. It gives me en error message - ‘segmentation error’
I am using Houdini 11.0.446.9, 32bit windows xp
I used the following expression
dopnumrecords($DOPNET,$OBJNAME,“Impacts”,“Impacts”)>=2
now the problem that I am facing is , Houdini counts the impact even when the boxes collide with each other. How can I set the condition so that Houdini counts the impact on a box only when sphere collides with it and not when other boxes collide . (If sphere collides with a specific box then Houdini should count it as 1st impact and when total no of such impacts by sphere on that same box becomes greater then or equal to 2 then gravity should act on that box. )

Nothing has been changed, no windows update, no video driver update and no new software installed.
I think I should format one of the machines once again and just install Houdini to check if display icons are there.

Actually I was installing Houdini NC in an institute. I installed it on 8 systems out of which only 4 were running Houdini without any problem and the other 4 had the display icons problem (All the systems have the same config !)
And now all the systems have display icon problem. :shock:
I am sure there is no windows update on these machines, video drivers and other software installations, I will be able to check it tomorrow…

Hi, I have installed Houdini 11.0.446.9 but there are no display icons. I have tried every suggested option on other threads related to this problem

Now I am facing the same problem even if I installed version 10.0.595. Even i had formatted the system and tried to install Houdin 10.0.595 and 11.0.446.9 But still the problem continues.
. I tried deleting the SVGIcons.cache and SVGIcons.cache.serial files in houdini11.0/config/Icons directory, didnt work. Tried cut copy and pasting these files/config folder/Houdini folder in other drives. It didnt help.
The strange thing is couple of days back version 10.0.595 was running withot any problem but suddenly I dont know what happened the same version is not showing the display icons.
My system Config is
Windows xp 32 bit
AMD Athlon 945 Quad core processor.
Asus NVdia Chipset M4n… Motherboard
2 GB RAM
1GB Graphics card 4325 ATI REDON. ( with updated drivers)
No antivirus installed
Please Help
