dont know how complex meshes are in your case , but this might help ..
or at least gives you another idea you can expand and fit .

if i remember correctly ( read somewhere ) , the first number is the frame number .

Also you cant really use those libs in orbolt assets if you can not be shure that people have those libs on their Houdini installations ..

hi ,
numpy, scipy and PIL are 'python* packages' usually downloaded from other sources / websites . later installed and configured by user themselves and accompanied by random failures .
dulo , is wishing for those to be installed and configured during Houdini 's self installation process .

@zarti : thank you, it is in SOPs for now (which has many advantages, one of which is ‘not limiting its use to master license holders’).

oh that wd be absolutely Fantastic !
since formerly-named-Escape exclusive users do not yet have any physical simulation node / set of nodes in SOP context , that wd be greatly appreciated ( i believe ) .
if you decide to settle those in DOPs States , hope its not that hard for you to develop in parallel for SOPs too ..

..
the attached file doesnt seem to have any geo ‘data’ inside .. even Locked .
Its a Houdini 12.0 file, so if you are trying to open it in H11 that might be the problem.
But if you are in 12.0 I have no idea.

to have control over the subdivision ‘s level :
> i just dragged the ’Depth' label of subdivide sop over the viewport .
so , i got a slider to control the subdi-depth .
keep modeling in viewport ..

my advice : if you ever wd have to waste 1 hour , waste it with expressions in houdini .
there is contextual help , there is the forum ( 2 indeed ) with a lot of examples and great community .
once you start getting some results , go back and try to achieve the same result differently
( in houdini or in-any-other-app ) .
just try it ..
oc , you can use houdini ignoring expressions , but why limiting yourself ?
why wasting all that power ??

Without a doubt digital assets. Many have tried recently but do not even come close. Oh wn gotta love expressions too

maybe you can reduce the specularity somehow .
not too much . just following the big shapes .
actually it looks is limited to bump ‘s mask .
or maybe just add another specular layer with a greater cone angle and mix’n'fade with the actual one .

Hi
I got some particles moving along a path using a CREEP POP.
Used a TRAIL SOP to compute the velocity of the particles and appended
a POINT SOP to instance geometry onto the particles.
For some reason, can't get the instanced geometry to orient to the particles direction of motion.
In the POINT SOP I tried both: ADD VELOCITY ($VX, $VY and $VZ) and
ADD NORMAL ($VX, $VY and $VZ). Dunno what I'm doing wrong :?
Any ideas?
maybe you are missing the UP vector or something similar which does what UP usually does .

this is how i do rendering and try to get most of processing power when timing is important :
- generate IFDs first .
- depending on my scene , i start 2 or 3 or whatever number of mantra renders simultaneously till i see the ‘rollercoaster’ become a straight line on processor 's graphs ( 100% ) . eg: if i have 300 ifds , render those in segments with each mantra process .. , , .
- wait or do something else while babysitting mantras
