I used systemctl to show all running services, I can confirm sesinetd status is ‘loaded active running’. But it's still trying to connect to license server

''I'm using NC Houdini, it was all fine until today when I tried to start Houdini, it tells me that sesinetd is not running, so I manually restart the license server but it still doesn't seem to be running, not sure what could be causing this. I'm using CentOS.''

I don't think you can without making your own ray-tracing solution. There is no ‘intersect’ function built-in to openCL.
Oh didn't know though, I intuitively thought whatever is available to VEX is also available to openCL

int samples = 30;
string lightOP = “../../arealight1”;
matrix lightmat = optransform(lightOP);
for(int s=0; s < samples; s++) {
vector lightCd = chv(lightOP + “/light_color”);
vector sampleP = random(@ptnum, s*123);
sampleP = fit01(sampleP, {-0.5,-0.5,0}, {0.5,0.5,0});
vector lightP = sampleP * lightmat;
vector lightray = lightP - v@P;
vector offset = v@N*0.001;
vector lP, luv;
float lightvis = (intersect(0, v@P+offset, lightray, lP, luv) == -1);
f@lightvis = lightvis;
float geoterm = clamp(dot(v@N, normalize(lightray)), 0, 1);
v@Cd += lightCd * lightvis * geoterm;
}
v@Cd = v@Cd / float(samples);
//END
It's a simple for loop, but I'm still new to opencl, can someone help? thanks

NRDPXLthanks a lot, this solved the issue
you could try to find package:
yum search libGLU
and install missing packages.

well, it would seem that I have solved the problem by manually adding the displacement global variable to the shading network tabs

it renders fine when in progressive preview, but it won't render to mplay or to harddrive.
the skinshadercore keep saying:
Errors or warnings encountered during VEX compile:
/mat/skinshadercore1/pbrdiffuse1: Global variable I is not defined in the Displacement context. The value may be ill-defined. (11,34)
I didn't do anything to the internal network, yet it has this error, how do I fix this? thank you.

Technical Discussion » should I continue a sim if it runs out of ram?

I have a feeling that my pyro sim is running out either ram or vram or maybe both of them, cause I'm getting error open cl -4, but somehow the simulation is still running very slowly, I'm wondering if I should just kill the process, or just let it run to see if magic happens?

Hi, thanks for reading this post.
Currently I got a major issue, my pyro sim seems to be running out of ram(I refuse to go back to low res,cause my sim look so much better at higher res) I have a vague idea of how Pyro Cluster works, maybe I could use pyro cluster to simulate them out block by block and then combine them together? I'm not sure if that's actually how pyro cluster works, if it is, please give me some simple advice as to partitioning my pyro into multiple simulation box, thanks so much.

thank you, I mistakenly put my smoke* in DOP Node under Dop Import Fields instead of Default Object, well. Still, thank you.

Hello, this problem suddenly surfaced and I have never seen it before, as bizarre as it sounds: I can only see my smoke object inside DOP, once I jump out one level to Geometry level, it's totally gone, and I also don't see any volume data cause I can't use dop import field to import them neither, does anyone know why? thank you.

Hello, this forum looks like a great place to learn. I'm having trouble using color value to drive density region with scatter node when fracturing. It was possible, from my current knowledge of this software, to use the old scatter node to drive fracturing based on color on a mesh, but now this feature seems to be gone, correct me if I'm wrong? Thank you.
