Thanks for the tip, Luiz. Helped me understand the issue. Turns out the polygon target range I'd been using was just too low.
Thanks!

Success with the updated HDA.
The node sometimes produces an empty output file if “desired vertex count” is too high. And if it's too low, the resulting mesh naturally doesn't have enough resolution.
Looks like it'll take some adjustment to find the right balance.
Thanks for the resource!

Impressive processing performance within the Instant Meshes application.
But I'm not sure I'm linking the HDA to the executable properly on Mac OS X:
Because the Bake button produces an error notice:
Maybe something like goldleaf's adjustment is also applicable here.

Neat, this looks like a promising system. I'll have to spend some time with the tool to understand the parameters.

Indie is locked to a single machine, with some adjustments allowed on occasion:

But it might be possible to set up a license server to allow access to one workstation at at time.

Distinctive! Love all the details flapping around in the wind. The crinkly folds and ripples in the inflated balloon look great.

Sean RoweI thought something similar had been on Erwin Santacruz's Houdini Tricks [houdinitricks.com] site once, but only see an introduction to the concept:
I can't seem to find a comprehensive list of the variables, i'll update if I find them
http://houdinitricks.com/quicktip-new-attribute-syntax-in-houdini-15/ [houdinitricks.com]
$BBX relbbox(@P).x
$BBY relbbox(@P).y
$BBZ relbbox(@p).z
$T @Time
$FF @Frame
$ST @SimTime
$SF @SimFrame
1/$FPS @TimeInc
From the internal help:
Geometry attributes
In HScript expressions on geometry you can reference the value of an attribute using `@attributename`. For example, you can use `@pscale` to get the value of the `pscale` (point scale) attribute on the current point.
For vector attributes such as `P` (position), you can use dot notation to grab a component, for example `@P.x`. You can use `.x/.y/.z` or `.1/.2/.3` or `.r/.g/.b`, whichever makes sense for the type of data.
Local variables
Nodes often provide variables that are useful for expressions on nodes of that type. For example, a node that operates over the points in a geometry will have a `@ptnum` variable representing the point number of the current point. The help for a node will list the local variables you can use in expressions on that type of node.

Yes, I've seen similar behavior on 15.5.480. Also seems to lead to an application crash.

Looks like the search box in the online documentation can get hidden in the upper-left portion of the browser view.
Disabling the class=“brand navitem” svg header element can make it visible again.
The query just points to the 15.0 Google site search, though.

At the moment, the search box seems to be working in Houdini 15.5.480 and Chrome 50.0.2661.102.

You can also try duplicating your settings from the previous version, then renaming the new folder to the latest version. Upon relaunch, the application should be able to read your configuration and create any new support files that it needs.

Try right-clicking on the Geometry Mode Selection tool item and the Select tool item to see your current selection settings. Inadvertent key presses can toggle unanticipated selection modes.
Geometry Mode Selection:
Select:
Press spacebar-z to set the viewport's pivot point around your cursor's location. There might be an equivalent shortcut to pivot around the current selection, too. Not sure if that depends or your viewport tumbling method.

Also, make sure you're running full Houdini FX (or Apprentice or Indie). The binary labeled as plain “Houdini” lacks some particle and dynamics capabilities.
