I just discovered that if I load the scene inside Houdini it doesn't work, but if I load it double clicking on the icon file it works fine

Hello guys probably I'm doing something wrong, I want to duplicate a geo node and offset it with timeshift. So I create an object merge followed by a timeshift with frame $F+a value. But both objects are in sync. I'm attaching a simple example. Anyone can tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thank you

Thank you, yes I'm experimenting. I tried a bit with gravity and time scale but I'm afraid it all becomes a bit unpredictable, now I'm trying to add some viscosity and it seems to help, I'll post some advancement

Hello all,
I have this simple simulation which is working well but I need to reduce the velocity after the collision, particles are going too far, I tried some parameters like “bounce” but it's not enough, anyone knows how I could do it ?
Thank you
Ray

Houdini Indie and Apprentice » Flip emission rate

Thank you, actually you're right, “scale source volume” should work because the documentation says exactly what you suggested …
I tried activation but even it's a float, it just turns the fluid emission on and off.
But I think I solved the problem animating the emitter geometry, scaling it gradually gives the result I want
Thank you
Ray

Did you solve the problem ? I'm experiencing the same and I need to find a solution to animate the emission rate, but scale source volume doesn't seem to work at all
Thank you

Hello,
I'm experimenting with flip fluids and I want to change the emission rate of the fluid emitter starting with few particles and gradually raising the number.
I wonder what's the correct way to achieve this ? On a post on odforce I read I need to change the “particle separation” in the flipfluidobject (dop), but it doesn't seem to work, setting keyframes on that parameter doesn't change the particles number during the animation.
It seems to work instead using the “particle separation” in the fluid source sop, but I'd like to know if it's the correct parameter to work with. Anyone can help ?
Thank you
Ray

I still didn't have to use multiple uv's in Houdini but I know it's possibile, you have to create the first set using the attribute “uv”, then the others using attribute names “uv2”, “uv3”, etc
“Layer” sop is the node to use to work with multiple attributes

You can use “copy stamp” sop and $NCY will work fine. It doesn't work with “copy and transform” sop

Hello I have a 2D animation in PNG format with alpha that I want to map on a plane using transparency. I'm using the sprite material, it works perfectly in the viewport but when I render it is not visible. What am I doing wrong ?

I had the same problem on Windows and solved it running just one time Houdini as administrator, using right mouse button and using “run as administrator” command

I had similar problems, and it was due to environment variables, use Houdini > Help > About Houdini Show Details to check

Houdini Indie and Apprentice » Vdb and transfer materials or color

Hello guys I'm trying to blend two objects together as if they were “melted”, so I'm using vdb and convert everything back to poly with vbd convert. Using the second input I can also transfer the color and it's ok. But now I want to make the melting more visible so I need to use a vdb smooth; the problem is that after the smooth the volume and the original mesh don't match perfectly so the attribute transfer of the vdb convert is not perfect (image attached). Anyone knows how to solve the problem ?
Thank you

Houdini Indie and Apprentice » Alembic from Houdini makes crash Maya

I'm happy I'm not alone, I experiment a crash in Maya playing Alembic files almost every time I import them. I don't think there is anything wrong in your rop alembic, it's a Maya issue. In my case I think it's related to the GPU playing the animation, because if I render the scene it renders ok , it's when I play in the viewport that it crashes. So the only workaround I found is to visualize the alembic geo in Maya as bounding box and not full geometry
