Hello!
First off, you can ignore that crazy wall of text in the job. For historical reasons “Upgrade” jobs send XML-wrapped file contents to the machine as a way of upgrading the client.
If renders are failing on your Ryzen machine then would you be able to post the output and diagnostics file for one of the failed render jobs?
Cheers,
Rob

Hi Alex,
According to the job output and diagnostics file it's as though the Mantra ROP is missing in the .hip file.
Can you confirm that there's a
If not, then you might just need to update the Output Driver parameter in the HQueue Render ROP.
Also, out of curiosity, have you tried running your job with Houdini 16.5? Note that you would only need to install Houdini 16.5. You wouldn't have to upgrade your HQueue server nor clients to 16.5.
Cheers,
Rob

I'm using Houdini 16 and for some reason whenever I try to import anything from PySide2 (for pypanels or in shelf tools) it says that the module does not exist. However, I am able to import my system's PySide module just fine.
I tried hunting down where the PySide2 modules are stored in Houdini's installation files and can't find them for the life of me. Any idea where these reside?
Hello,
Just to confirm, are you running the main (Qt5) build of Houdini? Or are you running the Qt4 build?
Also, the PySide2 modules are located in
%HFS%/python27/lib/site-packages-ui-forced

Technical Discussion » flip distributed sim stuck

Hello,
By any chance are you distributing the sim over Mac machines?
It's a known issue that distributed sims may get stuck randomly on Mac. There's an Apple bug report that's filed which describes and details the networking behavior that triggers the issue.
The only workaround that I know of is to use sim caches and restart the sim if it gets stuck.
Cheers,
Rob

Hmmm. Can you post a screenshot of the exact error?
Also, does the ‘/Library/HQueueClient’ directory exist?
And does your ‘bgood’ user account have administrative privileges?

No worries. If you ever run a similar job again and encounter the same error then feel free to post the job output and diagnostics file here.

Hmm. I can see consistent errors in hqnode.log that point to the client machine failing to connect to the server. The failure doesn't happen all the time just intermittently.
It's almost as if the network becomes temporarily unreachable.
I have a couple of questions:
- Is the client machine reporting a heartbeat? i.e. check the Last Heartbeat column in the clients table on the HQueue web interface
- Is the client machine consistently failing jobs? And is HQueue consistently unable to find the job output file?
- Is the HQueue Client service running on the client machine? Or are you manually starting the client by running

I write down the RYZEN's hqnode.log[main]
server = 192.168.0.9
port = 5000
sharedNetwork.mount = \\192.168.0.9\hqueue
[job_environment]
That looks like it is coming from the

file. Can you post the contents of

Technical Discussion » Newer OSX builds only compatible on High Sierra ?

Hello,
This is not intentional. Though the last 2 production builds are built on a macOS 10.13 platform they are not restricted to running only on 10.13. The builds are compiled against an older target macOS version so that Houdini can run on 10.12, 10.11, etc.
I just gave Houdini 16.5.378 a try on a Sierra (10.12.3) machine and the installation completed successfully and I was able to run Houdini.
What exactly is failing for you? Is the installer failing? Is it Houdini? Are there any error messages or screenshots you can post?
Cheers,
Rob

Interesting that HQueue couldn't find an output file for the failed job. It's almost as if the client machine is unable to send progress information back to the server.
Could you also post these files from RYZEN?

I have tested and i have an error message “failed to add 127.0.0.1 ”
It might be a permission issue.
Even though you are attempting to add the same machine as a client you might need to enable remote login access in Mac.

Yup. The server and client can run on the same machine. And you don't have to switch accounts/sessions. They can be launched from the same session.
And yes, 127.0.0.1, works when the client and server are on the same machine.
Cheers,
Rob

it doesn't seem possible to launch a server and a client with only one machine, is there a way to get a rendering list, I have several scenes to launch?
Sorry, I'm not really understanding this question but it is possible to install both the HQueue server and client on the same machine.

Hello i have a lot of render to start , its possible to make a render job whit one single machine ? i have tried to make a server , the server works on my machine, but I can't get the client to work if I enter the name of my machine which is Mac Pro I have this message " nodename nor servname provided, or not known“. or failed to add ”Mac Pro"
Hello,
Just to clarify, it sounds like you are unable to add a second machine, “Mac Pro”, as a client to your farm. If that's the case, then it sounds like a general networking problem. Most likely DNS is not setup for your machines so your server machine does not know how to connect to the “Mac Pro” machine.
My suggestion would be to use IP addresses instead of machine names. So enter the IP address in the machines list instead of “Mac Pro”.

Rob

Hello,
I haven't tried running HQueue on raspberry pi but in theory it should work. If you use the pi for just the client and not the server (i.e. install the server on something else) then that should be ok. The HQueue client software is pretty lightweight and doesn't require a lot of power to run.

Rob

Hello,
It sounds like a bug. Perhaps the HOUDINI_PATH initialization isn't happening because you are running regular Python as oppose to hython or houdini.
I would suggest submitting a bug to SideFX support and attach your .hip file and script.
