So I am trying to bake out a procedural texture as a map and for the life of me can't seem to get rid of a one pixel wide black antialiasing line that runs around the edges of the uv's when I reapply the baked texture. I tried turning off antialiasing in mantra as well as setting the texture nodes box filter width to 0 and still I have the line. Any ideas what I am missing?

Sorry I haven't been able to post in a while. To answer your question, yes, they are both Maya 2015 and they both are using the latest stable version of Houdini, although one computer is running a 30 day trial version of Maya.

Hmm. I was considering making it a dropdown, however rather than having it as a fixed parameter, I was wanting it to be something like the gear menu presets. That way users could add their own presets later. Not sure if that is the best way to do it now though. Could users easily save a custom preset to a dropdown?

It occurs to me that perhaps I am asking the wrong question. Is there anyway to use fire volumes as a volume light in Maya so that we can get realistic fire lighting?

I'm creating an asset and would like to have a couple presets that users can choose from to quickly get a specific look. Unfortunately I noticed that creating a preset sets the value for every parameter on the node meaning parameters that didn't need to be changed (like transforms) get set. I tried going into the preset file and erasing the parameters that I didn't want set, but that seemed to break the whole file. Does anyone know the proper way to exclude parameters from a preset?

The sim I tested was a basic shelf tool applied to a basic sphere, which I'm guessing is what you mean by simple. As an odd side-note the torch sim asset found in the orbolt store didn't crash computer #2's maya but it didn't display any geometry or volumes (it worked fine on computer #1). Assets that don't include a pyro sim seem to work fine on both computers. A couple tests I have yet to do is see if I can load assets that produce volumes at all, and see if including any type of simulation causes the same error. Unfortunately I won't have an opportunity to test further until Monday…

Sorry for all the posts lately. I'm trying to get a Houdini Engine pipeline up and running with very little time.
Okay, so I have two computers with Houdini Engine Indie, Houdini Indie, and Maya 2015. Computer #1 has dual processors and 32 gigs of ram. Computer #2 has 1 i5 and 12 gigs of ram. I have a digital asset that contains a basic fire sim (fire exploding from sphere using the shelf tool), when I load the asset on computer #1 it runs with no errors. However when I load it on computer #2 it says a fatal error has occurred and crashes. My original guess is that this was a resources issue for some reason, but the task manager doesn't show any peaks in ram or cpu usage. Any ideas what might be causing this?

The title says it all. I have a volume light for some fire that I want to import into Maya along with my fire sim. Is it possible to do this? I tried a test export with just a single point light and it didn't seem to work.

Thanks for the quick reply. So I figured out what part of the problem was. When you export geometry from 3D coat it includes a uv attribute which seems to mess with the ptexture. After deleting the uvs it worked like a charm.

Okay so I just tested it with a ptex-ed teapot done in mudbox and it works fine, however my stove ptex-ed in 3D coat doesn't work if I export the model out of 3d coat. However the 3D coat ptex on my mudbox exported model works for some reason… odd

Hey, so I have used Ptex in past versions of Houdini and heard that the Texture vop now has the functionality of the old Ptex vop. Unfortunately I can't figure out how it's supposed to work. Can anyone give me some pointers or an example file. Thanks!

There used to be a Ptex node, but it seems to have gone missing, perhaps it was implemented in the Texture node? If that is so then I am not sure how to use it now. I tried playing around a bit and no luck.
Anyone know how to do Ptex in houdini 14 now?

So since Houdini Apprentice cannot create usable assets for Houdini Engine, my company upgraded the license to Houdini Indie and got the Houdini Engine Indie license too since they are supposed to be able to work together. So now my computer has a license for both the standard Houdini Engine and the Indie version as well. However after installing the licenses I am still getting the error:
// Error: HAPI Error: Limmited commercial (Indie) assets not allowed with commercial licenses.
Is this due to some sort of license conflict perhaps?

The Orbolt Smart 3D Asset Store » Orbolt page broken

So I went on orbolt today and whenever I click on a category the site takes me instead to the future asset requests page. The only way I can see any assets is by clicking on the pictures of the “most downloaded” assets on the main page. Was able to reproduce the issue on multiple machines and browsers.

So I in my system variables I had added the $HFS/bin path to my “path” environment variable. I decided to create a new variable named “PATH” there and wallah, it worked.

Also as a side note, I am using the trial version of Maya 2015. Not sure if this should make any differences.

Neither of those .dll exist in my System32 folder. How would I create a list of all of them short of slowly copy pasting each name?

Okay so I tried your exact MEL expression which ended up pointing the PATH variable to my $HOME/bin (which is what I had been doing before), as well as making sure Houdini Engine was activated using the instructions in this post:
