Circus Monkey, please try restarting your license server.
In a shell, run
sudo /etc/init.d/sesinetd restart
And then try launching Houdini.
If this doesn't work, email us at support@sidefx.com

We did receive you bug report, but were unable to reproduce.
Please, when you submit a bug, leave your email for contacts, so we can ask further questions (like sending the crashlog, as Edward suggested)

Get the Basic Surface Material and drag it into the white space next to the tree (this loads the material in /shop) or drop (assign) it into an object. Go to /shop, in the Material'sSpecular folder, choose BLINN from the drop down menu for Specular Type

Just adding to Edward's example…If you want the bgeo sequence to start at 1 for each particle, you can use a stamp expression with ($AGE*$FPS)

Hi Warren!
One quick fix…Copy the facing polygons, polyknit them, delete the copies and merge the
polyknited shape to your original boxes.
Cheers!

We had this problem around here already.
Apparently Houdini now defaults to a sample rate of 41100, while usually sound files are CD quality (48800), so, in the FileChop change “Rate Options” from No Change to Resample and type 41100 in the Sample Rate field…I hope it works for you too!

Alternatively, you can set up groups with a group Pop, enable Generation and giving the name of the Pop generating particles (Source pop in one case, Split pop in the other).
Either this way or the one pointed by deecue, you should be able to see the groups at Sop level (middle click in the Sop and you should see the groups)
If that's not the case, maybe you can email me your hip file…

How about assigning groups to your particles at Pop level? The groups are valid at SOP level too

Hi there!
If you are using an attribute pop, that is, if you are creating an attribute, you have to tell the point Sop what is that you are looking for. For that you need to use the point expression ( type exhelp point on the texport and you get a handy help) and put down the name of the attribute you created instead of “P” or “N”.
Hope this helps!

Gene here figured it out…
In case somebody else out there wants to access them through hscript, look at the pom commands…pomls will list them, pomset -e for setting display on or off, etc…
Now I am “Hud-Happy”!

Thanks for your help but what I am looking for is a way to access the HUD Slider “objects” themselves, so, for example, I could create an alias to hide and expose them without having to open the “handle list” pane.

Geez Bruce, I had to pay CAD$ 15,000.00
at a local College to learn the tool you are learning for free… I really don't know what's your problem.
