i remember some movie who the director cut with a knife the eye of a death dog but if you watch that movie u dont see how really like it was.

well, start from simple space ship only one direction and speed 1km/per sec. put a cam and inspect thing like. the feel of vel or speed with a cam , rot zoom. etc… am so sorry right now am not using a translator. so my … you know..

perhaps interpenetrations i think.
you can convert you scene to vbd volume and reconvert it to poligons and baked the lighs, textures and so on.
or with comp. check the tutorials, the waterfall tuts have a very good tips.

MAYBE you geometry, or i must say,maybe your bad geometry…
here a example pic and example scene.
1 min frame render. water, interior with refangle. area lights and of course, the best friend of interior scene a portal light.
for no flickering, turn off Gi light.

if you rotoscop you subject … you obtein a diffuse ( particle color)
cg double for apply vfx:particles colors, magic.
when you make for example a pyro fire simulation and comp with footage ¿ should you make some tweeks or not? perhaps you make tweeks i think ,clever integration, tweeking hue and one more optical effect.

when the people use their cel fone;example, for make videos. how they prevent the noise product of the darkness? they must think of how make a very good lightning scenerio. That mean, where is the best place for the lights sources. so for prevent the noise in you scene you must think like if you make videos with a cel fone.
adjust noise level is a very very good friend.
use portal light everytime.
Mantra is much better than vray. + features. more powerfull.

here a five min test with pyro, billowy smoke.
adjust the velocity, noise, dissipation,etc, for diferents and better solution.

if you make some points boing boing on a grid, ths grid of points bouncing can be easily convert to a tube of point bouncing. with that you have 2 shape with the same points. the combination of interpolations could be with sequence blend i think. tuts from pquint on vimeo can help you.

for bettering 2*2. Min 1 max 32. noiselevel 0.002 and so on.
