OK, I've got it down now, is this going to be extremely slow when a lot of objects come in to play? And should I try a more complicated version?

Thanks make's perfect sense, eventually I'll be up-scaling this to a whole lot of objects (10,000 +), so I'll start working on a better way. Any helps always appreciated thanks!

I'd give LSystem's a go, create a rule for the flower, and you can copy the petal with J, in the rules, you plug the geometry into the first input and it will be copied, you could than control generations with CHOPS, and have really nice control over it. Hint: You can use multiple types of copied geometry, as lsystems have 3 inputs for this, and you can like the copy sop use the Stamp function (stamp(“../lsystem1”,“lsys”,0) <Think that's it>, to get random change in your copy's. If you post a Hip, I'll show you.

5. Meshfilter / passive points?
MeshFilter: This kind of thing for Houdini
http://youtu.be/iAJzZ00La6Q?hd=1&t=9m37s [youtu.be]
It will give possibility to use softbody features in rigged characters, this will allow realistic bat wings and other skin effects, like very fat stomach or neck.
Have you watched Cmivfx's video on procedural animation techniques? They show a method of creating a jelly fish that would be well suited to bats,
You could make a custom Wire solver setup, or cloth set up relatively easily as well.
The other stuff doesn't sound like the Houdini way of doing stuff, so I wouldn't be too sure sidefx would want to implement it. We'll see.

HIP anytime soon? I'd love to see how you've done it, just upload the shader on a sphere, I'm sure everyone would agree.

You can create your own custom variable declarations inside of houdiini, than you and your collaborates declare it and use it in place of $HIP, it could be called $TEXTUREDIR, or whatever.

Flux looks good, but I'll be sticking with houdini for now. It fits everything together so nicely.

You see I heard about a thing called Flowline. And it seems the big guys all use that, than there's realflow, and was naiad (RIP), realflows seems to be suited for small studios and advertisers, and naiad looked really well rounded, so where does FLIP get used?
