intel integrated graphic S-U-C-K-S for any kind of 3d/graphic thing, specialy that kind of fancy-packed apple integrated one.
And that's a fact.
ah, and this was the question:
1. most probably it won't, or it will but very bad;
2. the 1st answer has no real use since houdini WON'T work on macOS. maybe you can manage to install it via dual-boot thingy, I don't know. But in any case performance will SUCK.
If you get PowerBook and manage to run houdini via dual-boot you will still have problems since they have ATI cards, do a bit of search here on forum…
On the other hand if you plan to use maya/cinema4d I supose mac can be good solution.
Bottom line, if you want/wish/need/have whatever… to work with houdini DO NOT BUY apple notebook. It will be like buying a sleek chrome porche to drive it in the jungle…
And that's a fact.
ah, and this was the question:
I was just wondering if Houdini will 1. work on that card (I have no idea), or 2. the card will be fast enough to run the program.

well
something like this:
I have a foder called projects and in it I have different folders for each job and in folder my_film I want to make subfolders like:
data
images
textures
scenes
etc…
and to have houdini save scenes in scenes, look for textures in textures render images to images… you get the point…
the main problem is that I am used to maya-way, just to click set project, name the folders and voila, all I have to do is to point in which project dir I want to work when I start maya…
I don't know if I am explaing everything in right way?

Hello to everyone.
I come from a maya-world where I get used to maya way of setting projects paths at the begining of every project.
I supose that in houdini projects are set via env. variables.
And I need a bit of guidance on this matter.
Thanks.

no memory leaking. at least not for now. I am doing lessons from gnomon's dvd and I haven't had a crash… Same thing with tutorials from sidefx… no crash…
sony vaio a317 notebook, winXPpro, intel M processor, 1gb ram, ati x600 with
GeCube Radeon x600 PRO driver… I don't have mobility options supported with this drivers but houdini runs smooothly, so who cares about battery life
It's houdini 8.1
Hope this will work for others too.

there is a thread somewhere on the forum about nVidia graphic card and best driver version for Houdini. Just do the search.

all I can say to you is NOT to take ati card. Nvidia=much better.
although there are workarounds to make ati work right.
And if you can take 2gb of memory in the beginning. Your life will be much more pleasant

there was an option in renderman to activate “backplate” in render globals, and make a constant/flat shader named “backplate” and it will use it as a bckground col.
it was some time ago I used rman so naming convenctions may be wrong  but the workflow is correct.

Hello to all.
I'd like to know if someone here had some experiences with next limit's real flow, and could compare it with houdini's particle/dynamic simulations.

heh.
I really hope that autodesk will never wish to have anything like this with sidefx.
But, again, houdini is fundamentaly different from both maya'n'max, so I guess there is no real chance to see similar thing…

I found this on cgTalk. Very interesting, and with extremely positive feedback.
I will try it today. It looks like a cure for an openGL disease…
