Seen as though there are a heap of awesome tricks inside Houdini that make using it awesome, I thought I'd try starting a thread for people to upload hips/hipncs, explain methods or share links to stuff, I'll post one soon, when I get the time. This is a great way to share some awesome methods for awesome stuff and I hope people agree, in future when i finish my website I'll make a section there for this kind of stuff.

Forgive me but where do I do this (change velocity), asking's better than stumbling around.

FLIP's built of the old sand solver, so i had the idea that this would suit, what should I use instead? And can you link to some resources or give me some other info? Bullet's really inefficient from where I'm standing, I've done tests and have got 4-5 million flip particles fine, but that many with RBD would kill my computer.

Wow, shows how little I know! So this will work with HBatch just fine(Follow frame range specified and Verbosity?

Thanks, but it's impossible, rop geometry is in a different context, and i don't think I'd be able to do this through HBatch, I'll go the python route, but don't know where to start!

Any place you can point me? Or if your willing give me a hint to the big things, I'm currently doing a Python challenge run by the Sydney University, so it shouldn't be too hard to figure out if your busy.

Out of curiosity, why is that?
*Edit*
Also how would I schedule 2 renders, so I can specify a Geo ROP, than give it a mantra to render render?
*Edit*
It works!!!! Thanks, I owe you my gratitude even if it's a little thing.

@qbick
I agree, mantras got some great things: Volumetric renderings fantastic, it's got cheap motion blur and cheap displacement, as well as other strengths like free render tokens, this all makes it very top notch, but it has to keep up, they've proven they're willing with PBR, so I hope 13 Brings more!
Also because I'm working on a project that needs it I think I'll mention it, a sand solver or a shelf tool to set it up in FLIP! That is all, or they could make a Multi solver like lagoa, that would be a dream come true.

Although I love POPs I'd like to take this approach: Simulating sand with the FLIP solver, now I don't know where to start so please help, I'm not afraid of anything complicated but please provide clarity in explanations, this is for a project that requires it to be emitted from cracks in the ground, any one who helps out will get credit when I put the video out there! thanks.

For some reason the frame range I specify is overwritten by the one inside the Hip file, how do I make the -f one the one it renders?
Also it didn't work.
This exact string.
render rop_geometry -f 87 300 -Va1 -s

Your one of those case's where the software doesn't mean too much, I've seen your tests with naiad, and in my opinion the flip ones look just as good! Keep up the nice work.

I can only wonder whats going to come from dreamworks now, openVDB sounds great, and knowing of the deal with SESI I don't doubt there's more to come.

How do you get a progress report when rendering with HBatch for the command line, I'm on a mac if that matters, any help would be greatly appreciated! This is the command I'm currently using.
mread filename.hip
cd /out
render mantra1 -f 250 275 -V -n
all that this does is say: Rendering mantra1.
Which is painful as I never complete a render at once, and don't want to go browsing my computer to see where it's at.

I managed to achieve what i want by permutating some Cartesian coordinates, the reason is because I want it to be as light as possible. I'm creating the Archimedian solids, than going on to the Johnson solids, which means there will be a lot of nodes in my networks. Thanks though.
