hello, I am using Houdini 20.0751 as well as 20.5.445. I'm stuck, I want to be able to select points, and save them in a group node to use in vellum, to have hair, just on those points, using a group node : after I select in the viewport, and hit enter, my points do not show up in the enter field in my group node; can someone please help me with this? if I am not clear, I can always repost with a different explanation, thank you, Craig

To be clear, are you selecting in the viewport using the mouse cursor icon in the viewport, or in the Group SOP?

Second, are both the Group SOP and the select tool set to points?

sorry for my lack of clarity; I select in the viewport, my preferred points using the lasso selection tool, then go to object manager, with tool set to points, in group SOP ,and hit "enter", shouldn't selected points appear in the base group filed?

That was my question, though: are you selecting with the icon I circled on the left, or the right? The right icon is how you select geometry for a specific operation, like a Group.

There are two red circles in the screenshot I posted. Look at the one on the right. It's a parameter of the Group Create SOP, among others, to the right of the Base Group parameter dropdown.

You can also do it this way: Select the points, then in the viewport, press tab, type group, and press enter.

To Gordig, thank you for your clarity. I owe you an apology; I didn't expand my window, and didn't see the reference that you made about the circle on the right side, thank you. To Cyte, thank you for taking the time as well, with your gif, to clarify, Best, Craig
