HDR rendering problem. mysterious red light

hey guys. i've got a problem with HDR rendering.

i'm using an .HDR probe as my area map. it looks pretty good, except for this red light that seems to be coming from the distance.

i've attached a picture. the HDR setup is correct… is it something with the env light settings ?

Which build of Houdini are you running? Make sure it's at least 9.5.241.

i am.

it is the latest build from the website from about a week ago.

think it could be the HDR image?

i'm using a .hdr, not a .rat

Actually, maybe the path to your image is not correct? Houdini/mantra uses an all red texture if it can't find your image.

i'll double check that once the simulation cooks.

but if the path to the image was incorrect, why would it the diffuse and specular be correctly affected ?

thanks alot for writing back though. this is part of my final for VSFX 130 and it's due tomorrow at 11:00am.

<shrugs> You probably want to convert it to a .rat regardless and to see if it helps.
