So I followed the polygon modeling with subdvision tutorial and at render time, after I apply the mateiral just like the tutorial, doing everthing just like it my freaking spoon stills looks like made of paper.. what's the deal? Is that because I am on houdini apprendice ?

check to see where the render flag is - it's the Purple rectangle, that's the node that will get rendered.
