I have gotten a copy of the HAE at a show here in London Thursday. It doesn't run, instead giving an error after being prompted to create a
non-commercial licence as follows:
“The instruction at ‘0x690ea4ee’ referenced memory at ‘0x00000208’. The memory could not be ‘read’.”
My system is as follows:
AMD Duron 850
Asus AVPro M/B
256MB SDRAM
ATI All-in-Wonder (Rage 128 Pro)
8GB free on IDE drive
Microsoft intellimouse optical (with wheel)
Calcomp/CIC 3100 tablet/pen
Windows 2000 Pro (SP4), all updates.
Creative SBLive! MP3+
Adaptec AHA2940-U2W SCSI adapter
Toshiba XM640 CD-ROM (24x)
Yamaha 4416s CD-R/RW

Thanks for the help. I'd love to get this going.

Hey Steve,
The error is due to the graphics card you're using because it does not support OpenGL properly. Please go to this thread [sidefx.com] for instructions on how to run Houdini with software OpenGL.
I would recommend upgrading your graphics card if you intend to use/learn Houdini Apprentice more.
I hope the above helps. Have fun!
Cheers!
