I'm rendering a COP network. I'm running the memory command and then freeing the composite cache. Below is the dos box verbose output. ( “punch” is debug stuff I forgot to remove ) As you can see the amount of memory used is rising. Are there any other commands to free memory? Any thoughts?

Windows XP. 6.1.208

Cheers

Memory: 218.43 Mb of 480.26 Mb arena size
Composite cache cleared (30.98Mb freed)

Rendering frame 119
09:10:16 comp2 frame 119 (1 of 1)
punch
Memory: 228.74 Mb of 484.19 Mb arena size
Composite cache cleared (30.97Mb freed)

Rendering frame 120
09:10:47 comp2 frame 120 (1 of 1)
punch
Memory: 230.19 Mb of 490.74 Mb arena size
Composite cache cleared (30.97Mb freed)

Rendering frame 121
09:11:17 comp2 frame 121 (1 of 1)
punch
Memory: 233.41 Mb of 491.29 Mb arena size
Composite cache cleared (30.98Mb freed)

Rendering frame 122
09:11:48 comp2 frame 122 (1 of 1)
punch
Memory: 242.90 Mb of 497.41 Mb arena size
Composite cache cleared (30.86Mb freed)

Rendering frame 123
09:12:19 comp2 frame 123 (1 of 1)

additional: clearing the tex and geo caches make no difference either.

Hey,

Yeah its a problem I have seen before in Windows. It does not happen in the Linux version. I think it has something to do with MPlay. Have you tried rendering straight to disk and bypassing MPlay I can't remember if that worked for me or not? I think my final solution was just to render in Linux. I got at times a 10/1 ratio of memory usage over windows. Actually that is more like an average there was times when it was much higher than that. Surprised in COPS though never had the Rendering Memory Usage problem when working with COPS.
