Hi All-

Prolly an easy solution, but how does one render out a shadow pass?

Hey Jon,

As for shadow pass, you probably want to apply a VEX Shadow Matte shader.

Hope that helps.

Alex-

I have not touched very many vex shaders. Say a ball is casting a shadow onto a ground plane. I want the shadow on the ground only. Do I apply the vex shader to the ground plane? Then are there any other settings i need to set?

jon,

go into SHOPs and lay down a “Vex Shadow Matte Shader” as Alex said. Then go to OBJ. Select the objects that the shadow is casted on (your ground plane) and on the shading tab, point your Shop Surface to the Shadow Matte Shader from SHOPs.

You'll be suprised at how easy it is once you've done it.

Heck you could even drag and drop it onto your object if you are really modern.
