Hi there.
I am a graphic artist, working mainly in Cinema 4D.., but..
Recently I started studying Houdini, and already began to understand something (thanks to Ben Watts for it  )..
If you do not mind, may I ask some newbie question..?
Here's the video (link below, watch from 2:15), a cannonball hit the snow castle.
So, my question is how this can be implemented in Houdini?
Initially the object (Castle made from particles) does not affected by gravity, but as soon as the cannonball flies through the particles then they gradually begin to fall..
Can someone will prompt a tutorial on this subject? Or at least tell me from where to start looking.
So any ideas and tips are welcome..
Thank you.

PS Oh, and if I asked my question in the wrong section, sorry for that and please redirect me to the right place.

Hi , It is already implemented in H14, first generation PBD.( grain solver) You will need a decent machine to lever the most out of it and even then its pretty slow. Turns into a R&D job to speed things up .

You could though do a RBD sim and have a ball smash a castle of spheres with ease. Depends what you want to achieve !

Thanks for your reply. You mean RBD Grains from the shelf?
But I'm not sure if I understood, could you share more details please?

If you are familiar with Ben Watts C4D tutorials just look at his Melting Angel tutorial for Houdini. Simply time the canon ball with the effector passing through the object to melt.

Enivob, I talked with him on this subject, but I wanted to make setup simpler…

I've already done something with the help of Graham Matthew Collier.
But with sand instead of snow for now..
You can watch result here: https://vimeo.com/128350137 [vimeo.com]
Also based on advice from Vimeo comments I made another version where there is much less particles velocity and some jittering done..
I even not uploaded it on Vimeo, so here is the link to the second version:

Thanks for the tips guys, I really appreciate.
Cheers
