I've played around with the apprentice version, but now that the c4d integration comes into public beta I'm really interested in getting an indie licence of Houdini.
But my question is, can I use the indie licence and then render through c4d with a third party render engine? Or would I need the full version of the Houdini engine and use that with the indie licence?
I'm curious what the licence setup would be, because I would like to be able to also use Houdini as a standalone. Investing in the full version is a bit to much for now.

Hi Coen,
please take a look at this chart.

It shows exactly all the licensing variations.
With the indie, you can create hdalc assets and use the C4D plugin to load them.
I have tested with Arnold Renderer, and it works. I think all third party renderers should work, but you will have to test it.
