I'm sorry, I'm really not trying to be difficult here, but how is it useful? It's basically a distinction between the node being created by hitting Tab in the viewport vs hitting Tab in the network editor. When you look at a hip file a week after it was created (or a file created by another user), what do you do with that information? In what way do you treat the nodes differently based on this distinction?

On a slightly related note - can we see the time when the node is created?
It would help when you have a long chain of nodes, from viewport modelling, then you go back and insert some nodes at the top of the network which causes some parts of the rest of the procedural tree to break or doesn't work correctly anymore.
It would be easy to debug if you could see which are the newer nodes.
