Hi,

I have an HDA with an edit node inside, and I would like my HDA to have the same “behaviour” as the edit node at its level. Meaning that I want to be able to have the viewport controls of the edit node on my HDA.
I can see it's possible when I see the spraypaint node for example, but I don't know how do replicate this.

Any thoughts on how to achieve this ?

Thanks a lot,

not sure if that's possible
Spraypaint does this by promoting stroke parms to asset level and setting Default State in hda to stroke
so it's easy to make custom stroke based HDAs

but really not sure you can do the same for edit

Interesting, how do we know which nodes have a default state ?
Could I maybe use the HDA handles to do what I'm looking for ?

Thanks,

Hey Julien,

I'm curious if you found a solution to the problem. so is there a way one could have the edit node as an HDA handle?

Cheers

No it's not as edit is not a python state but hardcoded into the node.

Check out python states in the docs to see what bindnings is available and there a are a few examples in the install dir like the brush one. It's quite a cool interface imo and hopefully sidefx can expand them to cover edit too.
