Hi,
After years of Blender I finally took the plunge and started on Houdini. I bought Rohan Dalvi's rocketship tutorial to get started. It was created in 15 so some things are different but so far I've managed to deal with them. Now I am at chapter 5 of the modelling part and I ran into an issue I can't solve. To create the cable, the first and last point from a carve need to be selected, but the group SOP is quite different in Houdini 16.
In the video, Rohan creates a group called ends and selects point 0 and point $N. But in the new group SOP, I can't enter the required expressions. The carve is resampled to 30 points, so I can enter 0 30, but I would like to have it dynamically. How should I go about this in Houdini 16?
Numeric selection of points using $N in Houdini 16

That seems to be a popular tutorial. Many people have asked the same question in the past few months. jlait explains a couple ways to do it here: https://www.sidefx.com/forum/topic/48939/#post-220937 [www.sidefx.com]
Writing code for fun and profit since... 2005? Wow, I'm getting old.

That's exactly what I needed. Thanks!
For what it's worth, in the meantime, I found another solution. Maybe it's useful to somebody.
The carve is resampled before, so I grabbed the segs value from the resample SOP and used that instead of $N in the grouprange.
